Responsibilities:
As the Senior Codekeeper and Protector âO the Loot, youâll serve as the shipâs trusted legal navigator on the treacherous seas of data privacy, cybersecurity and all things compliance. Youâll chart a course with shipmates from Product, Engineering, IT, Fraud and Marketing to ensure the ship stays clear of grand âole icebergs.Â
- Followinâ the Laws of the Seven Seas: Keep a weather eye on the legal horizon, watchinâ for the likes of the GDPR and CCPA.
- Cybersecurity Compliance: Keep the ship tight and shipshape by meetinâ the mighty standards of the ISO 27001 and SOC II armada.
- Scrolls and Policies: Craft and guard the scrolls of policies, procedures and protocols related primarily to privacy, data protection and cybersecurity.
- Battle Tactics: When enemy cannonballs attempt to breach our hull (e.g. fraud/cyber threats) youâll be the first to guide the crew on what to do and converse with the regulatory admirals.Â
- Product Counselinâ: Collaborate with Product and Marketing with a glass eye on Privacy and Data laws to ensure we donât anger a regulatory Kraken.Â
- Risk Chartinâ: Conduct deep divinâ explorations into risk assessment. Conduct Privacy assessments and Data Protection Impact assessments to spot any dangerous reefs.
- Parley with the Admiralty: Speak on behalf of the ship when the mighty Regulators come knockinâ.Â
- Internal Audits and Enforcinâ the Code: Comb the decks by conducting audits to be sure the crew and any vendors are following the Code, their contracts and the shipâs orders to the letter.
- Special Missions and Strategic Alliances: Partner with Pirate Shipâs cross-functional teams to ensure compliance across the crew.
- Ride the seas of change: Youâre comfortable in a remote environment where thereâs lots of change.
- Sail from your port oâ call: Youâre able to work from home and connect with your crewmates throughout the day over chat, voice, and video through company provided equipment.
- Hoist the Jolly Roger: Share your experience, expertise and interest with the crew to enhance our fun and progressive culture.
- At this time we are only accepting applicants in the following states: Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Massachusetts, New York, North Carolina, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, and Wyoming.
Requirements/Minimum Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in Data Protection, Cybersecurity, and Privacy Compliance.
- JD from an accredited law school and bar membership in good standing.
- Proven experience in managing compliance and privacy/cybersecurity regulatory projects.
- Strong advisory skills with experience guiding senior executives and multiple business groups.
- Ability to handle complex legal issues in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional legal research and drafting skills.
- Strong organizational and project management abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Bonus Points For/Preferred Qualifications:
- YARRrrr! The ability to speak like a pirate!
- Certifications including: CIPP/US, CIPM, & CISM.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Compensation - The pay range for this role is $225,000-$240,000 yearly USD plus a performance based bonus.
- Vacation Time - We offer 144 hours of accrued vacation time to start to keep our pirates rested & rejuvenated!Â
- Paid Holidays - 12 paid holidays per year.
- Paid Sick Time - 80 hours annually.
- Medical Insurance - 100% covered for Pirates by the company and kicks in the first of the month after enrollment. If you want to add any dependents (spouse, partner or children), theyâll be 50% covered.
- Dental and Vision -Â 100% covered for Pirates and 50% covered for dependents.
- 401(K) - We offer a Traditional 401(K) and a Roth 401(K), and pirates who contribute 1-3% of their annual salary get matched 100% by the company.
- Parental Leave - Full 12 weeks for parents for the birth, adoption, or foster placement of a child.
- Home Office Reimbursement - We provide a one-time home office reimbursement of up to $1,500 to purchase an ergonomic desk and chair.
