Summary

We ae looking to hire an experienced network engineer. This role is responsible for working on a team that supports operations at SRP like power generation and transmission.  As a Network Engineer on the High Security Operations Center (HSOC) team, you will be responsible for helping design, maintain, support, and life cycle existing and new network infrastructure devices that reside in a high security environment. The ideal candidate will have Cisco certifications and experience trouble shooting, maintaining, and supporting Palo Alto firewalls, Cisco devices and networks. Experience in network design tools like FNT and Visio a plus.

What You'll Do

•    Collaborate with team architects, principals, and other analysts to design and implement a secure, functional infrastructure
•    Collaborate on the installation of infrastructure such as firewalls, load balancers, backup, routing, cabling, and remote access solutions
•    Collaborate on the development of service management for the team
•    Collaborate with Cyber Security on development of OT policies and security framework
•    Create, review, and update process documents, network diagrams, and all other relevant documentation for compliance, knowledge transfer, and historical purposes.
•    Collaborate with Information Governance on data architectures 
•    Manage individual work tickets and help maintain high service levels and relationships with customers
•    Perform on-call duties on a 24/7 call-out rotation.
•    Supports a positive working environment through learning, educating, and collaborating with fellow team members and other SRP departments.
•    Understand and adhere to all related NERC CIP requirements as required

What It Takes To Succeed

  • Must be flexible and willing to learn in a fast-changing enviornment 
  • A top candidate will be proficient in the following skills: 
    • Knowledge of network systems including Cisco routing, Palo Alto firewalls, and server virtualization. 
    • Knowledge of networking hardware route, switch, and firewall. 
    • Knowledge of communication and routing protocols (TCP-IP stack), DNS, proxy, VPN, etc...
    • Excellent corss-functional collaboration skills
    • High level problem solving and communication skills
    • Excellent documenation skills creating procedures, workflows, and architecture diagrams.
    • Advanced use of Visio, FNT, and other system documentation tools is required. 
    • Ability to work remote or on-site as needed, including traveling to various locations and generation facilities througout SRP. 
  • Current industry certifications are preferred. 
    • VMware
    • Cisco
    • Palo Alto 
    • Cyber Security
    • Service Management 

Network Specific Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge of network routing, switching, communications protocols, OSI model and experience in designing, deploying and supporting an enterprise network
  • Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems in a time-critical environment and to work simultaneously on a variety of tasks with varying degrees of complexity 

 
 Position requires: 

  • Excellent teamwork, communications and customer service skills
  • Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Proven communication skills; including the ability to write clearly and succinctly in a variety of communication settings and styles
  • Demonstrated leadership, teamwork, and customer service skills are essential
  • Knowledge and understanding of SRP's business units is desired
  • Experience in multiple areas of networking technology including routers, switches, firewalls, proxy, and network security and is preferred
  • Experience with network performance monitoring and troubleshooting tools is desirable
  • Experience with network access control (NAC) technologies is desirable

Experience

• For a Level 1 (Associate), a minimum of no previous years of experience to two years related experience is required (if no degree, four-six years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience totaling four-six years).

• For a Level 2 (Journey), a minimum of two years of experience to four years related experience is required (if no degree, six-eight years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience totaling six-eight years).

• For a Level 3 (Senior), a minimum of five years of related experience is required (if no degree, nine years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience totaling nine years).

Education

A bachelor’s degree related to the assignment from an accredited institution is preferred.

 

Hybrid Workplace

SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.
