ABOUT THIS ROLE
We are looking for an experienced and proactive Network Security Engineer to serve as the network security subject matter expert within our IT Infrastructure team. You will be responsible for ensuring the security, network, integrity, and availability of our core systems, spanning both digital networks and physical facilities. This is a hands-on role where you will not only design and implement our network security controls but also manage our physical access systems, ensuring they integrate seamlessly with our IT operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • IT Security Architecture & Engineering
    • Design, implement, and systematically maintain robust IT security, firewall policies, and access control lists (ACLs) to protect network infrastructure.
    • Configure, manage, and monitor core IT security tools, including our VPN, CASB, Email Security, DNS, and other security solutions.
  • Operations & Monitoring
    • Administer and maintain the company's physical access control systems, including badge readers, door controllers, and monitoring software.
    • Manage and maintain the IT infrastructure components of our enterprise logging environment, assisting in the analysis of log data to identify trends, anomalies, and potential security threats.
    • Monitor network traffic for suspicious activity and lead the response to security incidents, from identification and containment to resolution and documentation.
    • Develop automated scripts and tools to enhance real-time log analysis and alerting, improving our response capabilities.
    • Balance IT security initiatives with the primary IT goals of operational stability, performance, and positive user experience.
  • Governance & Collaboration
    • Ensure all network and physical security measures comply with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and internal corporate policies.
    • Serve as the primary liaison between the IT Infrastructure team and other business units, auditors, and the Information Security department on all matters related to network and physical security.
    • Work in close partnership with systems engineers and other IT engineers to ensure security principles are applied to all infrastructure projects from the start.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in a network security engineer or related IT role.
  • 3+ years of deep experience with syslog servers and enterprise log management solutions.
  • 2+ years of experience managing and administering physical access control systems (e.g., LenelS2, Genetec, Brivo, etc.).
  • Extensive experience managing, deploying, and maintaining Palo Alto firewalls in an enterprise environment.
  • Proven ability to thrive in an IT operational environment, balancing security projects with day-to-day administration and support tasks.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with technical peers and explain complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience with cloud security (AWS, Azure, GCP) and hybrid environments is a significant plus.
  • Nice to have: Industry certifications such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or Certified Information Security Manager (CISM).
