Position Summary
Command Cyber Solutions, LLC (CCS) is seeking a highly skilled Senior Cloud Solutions Architect responsible for designing, developing, and implementing robust and secure cloud-based solutions for complex computer and information systems within the DoD. This individual will provide expert guidance on cloud architecture, infrastructure design, and system integration, ensuring alignment with DoD security regulations and industry best practices. This role requires a deep understanding of cloud computing platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP, Oracle OCI), information systems architecture, and cybersecurity principles.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Cloud Architecture Design and Implementation: Lead the design and implementation of cloud-based solutions for critical computer and information systems, encompassing infrastructure, applications, and data.
System Integration and Migration: Oversee the integration of new and existing systems into cloud environments. Develop and execute migration strategies for transitioning on-premises systems to the cloud. Address multi-system integration challenges within and across cloud platforms.
Security and Compliance: Implement and enforce security best practices and ensure compliance with DoD security regulations and industry standards. Design and implement security architectures to protect sensitive data and systems.
•Performance Optimization and Cost Management: Continuously monitor and optimize cloud resources to ensure optimal performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency. Develop strategies to minimize cloud spending, including analysis and optimization of Virtual Machine, ingress, and egress costs.
Multi-Cloud Interconnectivity and Landing Zones: Design and implement solutions for secure and efficient interconnectivity between different cloud providers (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Oracle OCI). Establish and maintain secure landing zones for consistent and compliant deployments across cloud environments.
Cloud Provider Collaboration: Work directly with cloud providers (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Oracle OCI) to develop and implement tailored solutions addressing specific system requirements, performance optimization, and cost management. Negotiate favorable terms and leverage provider expertise to maximize value.
Technology Evaluation and Recommendation: Evaluate emerging cloud technologies and make recommendations for adoption based on their potential benefits and alignment with DoD needs. Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices.
Technical Guidance and Mentorship: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other engineers and technical staff. Share knowledge and expertise to foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate effectively with various stakeholders, including technical teams, business users, and leadership, to ensure alignment of cloud solutions with business objectives.
Documentation and Standards: Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for cloud architectures, designs, and processes, adhering to established DoD and industry standards.
Education, Certification & Experience Requirements
Education Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field – experience can be substituted for
Minimum of 8 years of experience in IT architecture and systems engineering, with a strong focus on cloud computing and information systems..
Experience working within DoD environments highly preferred.
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance
Certification (Highly Preferred):
Relevant Cloud Architect certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Google Cloud Certified - Professional Cloud Architect)
CISSP or other relevant security certifications
Certification (Preferred):
TOGAF Certification
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Required:
Deep understanding of cloud computing platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP, Oracle OCI) and their related services.
Expertise in information systems architecture, design patterns, and system integration.
Strong knowledge of cybersecurity principles and practices.
Experience with infrastructure-as-code (IaC) and automation tools.
Familiarity with various operating systems, databases, and networking technologies.
Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Working Conditions/Working Environment/Physical Demands
Basic office work environment at government facility location
Scheduled hours between 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
May require participation in a rotating schedule for off-shift and weekend work.
On-call availability for critical escalations and emergency situations
