Physical/NAVY COMSEC Security Analyst

Location: Virginia Beach, VA

Leidos National Security Sector is seeking a seasoned Physical/NAVY COMSEC Security Analyst who would be responsible for executing, maintaining, and overseeing physical and communication security (COMSEC) programs under the Navy SURTASS contract. This position is ideal for professionals with deep expertise in DoD and Navy physical security protocols, exceptional audit capabilities, and a passion for mentoring and training.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Lead team operations in implementing and maintaining shipboard and shore-side physical security and COMSEC programs.

• Conduct thorough security assessments, audits, inspections, and vulnerability analysis both domestically (CONUS) and internationally (OCONUS).

• Oversee compliance with DoD Physical Security Program (DoD 5200.08-R) and Naval Communications Security Material System (CMS) requirements, including manuals CMS 1A, CMS 2, and CMS 3A.

• Develop and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), job aids, and training materials tailored to shipboard and shore-side environments.

• Provide training, mentorship, and professional development for junior team members.

• Deliver security briefings and facilitate crew training at CONUS/OCONUS locations.

• Interface closely with Navy personnel and crews to ensure full operational compliance and resolve security issues.

• Monitor security breaches, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.

• Recommend quality control measures in compliance with ISO 9001 standards.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree with 4+ years of relevant security experience. (Additional experience, training, and/or certifications may be considered in lieu of education requirement.)

• Demonstrated leadership in Navy life cycle sustainment programs or comparable operational environments.

• Expertise in Navy COMSEC management and physical security auditing on naval vessels.

• Familiarity with DoD 5200.08-R, Navy CMS manuals, and emergency action planning.

• Strong experience in developing security policies, procedures, and training content.

• Proven ability to conduct COMSEC spot checks, formal inspections, and deliver crew training.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with Navy stakeholders.

• Position requires ability to travel up to 50% CONUS/OCONUS

Preferred Qualifications:

• 4+ years of experience managing classified materials and physical security programs.

• Experience with SURTASS-specific security programs and procedural development.

• Executed trip reports and conducted compliance verification of classified inventories.

• Led penetration and vulnerability testing security measures.

• Expertise in emergency action planning and execution.

• Proven ability to coordinate internal audits and inspections.

• Self-starter with strong leadership and team-building skills.

• Extensive operational knowledge of Navy physical and COMSEC protocols.

• Exceptional communication, critical thinking, and organizational skills.

Clearance Requirement:

U.S. Citizenship; Currently possess an Active DoD Top Secret Clearance with ability to obtain SCI

Pay Range:

Pay Range $80,600.00 - $145,700.00
