The Impact You Will Make in this Role:

As the Monitoring and Cyber Response Manager, you will lead a global team responsible for the real-time detection, analysis, and response to cybersecurity threats targeting our enterprise and manufacturing environments. This role is critical in safeguarding our digital assets, ensuring operational continuity, and maintaining trust with our partners. You will oversee the Security Operations Center (SOC), develop incident response strategies, and collaborate across IT, OT, and business units to strengthen our cyber resilience.

Key Responsibilities:

                                 

Management ​

  • Lead and manage the global Security Operations Center (SOC), ensuring 24/7 monitoring and response coverage.​

  • Develop and maintain incident response plans, playbooks, and escalation procedures aligned with business continuity goals.​

  • Supervise and mentor SOC analysts and incident responders, promoting a high-performance, collaborative team culture.​

  • Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure SOC effectiveness and maturity.​

  • Coordinate post-incident reviews and lessons learned to drive continuous improvement in response processes.​

Technical​

  • Oversee the tuning and optimization of security monitoring tools such as SIEM, EDR, and other security related platforms.​

  • Lead the investigation and containment of cyber incidents, ensuring timely and effective resolution.​

  • Ensure monitoring coverage across IT, OT, and cloud environments, identifying and addressing visibility gaps.​

  • Drive automation and orchestration initiatives to streamline detection and response processes using SOAR platforms.​

Organizational​

  • Collaborate with IT, OT, and business units to align monitoring and response strategies with enterprise risk priorities.​

  • Serve as a key liaison during security incidents, providing timely updates and guidance to executive leadership and impacted stakeholders.​

  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements through effective monitoring and reporting.​

  • Partner with legal, compliance, and risk teams to support investigations, audits, and regulatory inquiries.​

  • Communicate threat trends, incident impacts, and SOC performance to both technical and non-technical audiences.​

Your Skills and Expertise:

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in cybersecurity, information security, or computer science (completed and verified prior to start)
  • Eight (8) years of experience in cybersecurity, with at least 3 years in a leadership role within a SOC or incident response team in a private, public, government or military environment

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Masters' degree
  • Experience in manufacturing or industrial environments (ICS/SCADA) is highly desirable.
  • Previous experience with applicable SIEM and EDR technologies (Google SecOps, Microsoft Sentinel, CrowdStrike, Microsoft Defender for Endpoint).​
  • Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, GCIA, GCIH, or equivalent.​
  • Displays a proven track record in leading and managing a threat response team with emphasis on proactive threat identification, analysis and incident identification.​
  • Strong knowledge of security monitoring tools, threat detection techniques, and incident response methodologies.
  • Demonstrated leadership in managing 24/7 SOC and cyber response teams with a focus on performance and resilience​
  • Strong expertise in incident response, digital forensics, and threat containment across IT and OT environments​
  • Proficient in leveraging SIEM, EDR, and NDR tools to enhance threat detection and reduce response time​
  • Skilled in integrating threat intelligence into operational workflows to improve situational awareness​
  • Effective collaborator across IT, OT, legal, compliance, and business units to align security efforts with enterprise risk​
  • Clear communicator capable of translating technical incidents into executive-level insights​
  • Committed to continuous improvement through automation, playbook development, and post-incident reviews​
  • Strong analytical thinker with the ability to assess risk and lead under pressure during high-impact incidents

Work location: On site in Austin TX

Travel: May include up to 10% domestic and international

Applicable to US Applicants Only:The expected compensation range for this position is $212,947 - $260,268, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position.
