Westland Insurance Group is growing and has an exciting opportunity for a hybrid Senior Information Security Compliance Specialist based out of our Surrey Head Office. Are you interested in developing key internal policies controls and helping build out a compliance program from the ground up? We are looking for a detail-oriented and driven individual to join our team.
Expected Compensation: The expected hiring range for this role is $96,000 to $120,000 based on a 35 hour work week. Actual offered salary will depend on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, as well as market conditions for the role, and internal equity.

As a Senior Information Security Compliance Specialist, you will ensure Westland’s compliance with regulator changes, contractual obligations, and business needs. In this role you will oversee the privacy compliance program, conduct audits, manage privacy incidents, and provide training to key stakeholders

Why we’ll love You:
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• 5+ years of experience in compliance, privacy, and/or information security roles
• Well-versed in Information Security frameworks and industry standards such as: SOC, NIST CSF, OWASP, and/or ISO 27000 – series standards
• Familiar with relevant privacy legislation and regulation such as, FIPPA. PIPA, PIPEDA, QC Law 25 etc.
• Relevant Microsoft certifications in information security such as Microsoft Azure Security Certifications, Microsoft Identity and Access Administrator (SC-300), and Microsoft Information Protection Administrator (SC-400)
• Experience with information protection and data loss prevention technologies
• Experience in third-party information security risk management including supplier assessments
• Prior experience with insurance industries or other regulated industries
Once here, you'll:
• Assist in the implementation, development, and review of internal Information Security and Privacy policies and controls ensuring alignment with regulatory changes, contractual obligations, industry standards and business needs
• Develop and maintain knowledge of Westland’s partner contracts and associated privacy and information security compliance requirements, as well as of federal and provincial compliance laws and regulations, and industry standards which are applicable to Westland’s business
• Assist with the execution of Westland’s privacy compliance program, including privacy impact assessments and privacy incident management as well as running periodic audits and reviews
• Assist in the implementation and maintaince of the Company’s information protection and data loss prevention programs
• Investigate and respond to compliance risk issues, risk assessments, regulatory inquiries, including preparing required documentation and making recommendations to business stakeholders on how to proceed
• Provide guidance and training to business on privacy reviews and privacy requirements to ensure Westland is developing products and operating its business in a way that protects privacy and mitigates risk
• Identify, assess and implement opportunities to enhance the effectiveness of the company’s privacy program policies, procedures, controls and other associated deliverables
