Position Overview
The Cybersecurity Communications Senior Graphic Designer will lead the visual design and branding strategy for the client’s cyber communications initiatives. This role is central to providing visual storytelling, design, and digital engagement in support of Agency-wide cybersecurity communications, including internal initiatives and public-facing campaigns. The Designer will work closely with writers, strategists, digital content producers, and program leads translating cybersecurity content into visually compelling, accessible materials.
This is a remote-eligible position with occasional on-site requirements in Bethesda, MD, subject to government approval. This position requires the ability to obtain and retain a Tier 4 High Risk Public Trust clearance.
Key Responsibilities
- Graphic Design and Brand Development
- Create high-quality visual products including infographics, posters, logos, social media graphics, presentation decks, newsletters, digital ads, and branding assets.
- Refine and expand the OIS Cybersecurity brand to ensure consistent application across all platforms (print, web, social).
- Use tools such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), Canva, and GIMP for design execution.
- Maintain and organize a SharePoint-based digital library of branding assets for internal and external use.
- Visual Communications Support for Cyber Initiatives
- Design content that supports the weekly OIS Cybersecurity Newsletter, workforce development campaigns, and internal leadership updates.
- Produce compelling visual materials to promote cybersecurity awards programs (e.g., CAPE), town halls, and special events.
- Assist in the development of dashboards, data visualizations, and interactive playbooks using tools like Tableau, PowerPoint, and Python-based visuals.
- Digital Platform and Social Media Support
- Support the design and scheduling of digital content for LinkedIn, X (Twitter), and internal communications tools (e.g., Viva Engage).
- Collaborate with the social media team to draft daily visual content aligned to content calendars and communications themes.
- Track and analyze visual campaign performance, adjusting strategies based on KPIs and stakeholder feedback.
- Project and Workflow Management
- Develop workflows to streamline design requests and graphics delivery, ensuring quality and timeliness.
- Coordinate with the Contractor Lead and federal stakeholders to intake, prioritize, and complete design tasks.
- Provide guidance and training to junior team members or federal staff on design standards and tools.
- Event and Stakeholder Engagement Support
- Design branded event materials, including signage, presentation templates, and promotional content for conferences and town halls.
- Collaborate on stakeholder engagement strategies, helping visualize messages for industry, government, and academic audiences.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, Digital Media, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred but not required.
Experience
- Minimum 8 years of experience in graphic design and visual communications, with a focus on public sector, cybersecurity, or IT-focused projects.
- Demonstrated experience supporting high-visibility communications campaigns across web, print, and social platforms.
- Experience working in government environments and familiarity with HHS, OCIO or cybersecurity communications is a plus.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in:
- Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
- Canva, GIMP
- SharePoint and Microsoft Teams
- PowerPoint and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Python)
- Familiarity with Section 508 accessibility compliance for all visual materials.
Required Certifications
- No formal certifications required, but the following are highly desirable:
- Adobe Certified Professional (ACP) in Visual Design or Graphic Design & Illustration
- Certified Digital Marketing Professional (CDMP)
- UX/UI Certification (optional)

Compensation and Benefits
- Salary Range: $110,000 – $125,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
