Job Description:

DEPARTMENT: Mathematics & Computer SciencePOSITION TITLE:   Assistant Professor of Cybersecurity

SUPERVISOR: Dean, College of Science, Technology & Mathematics

PURPOSE:  Louisiana State University at Alexandria (LSUA) invites applications for instructor or tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Cybersecurity. The successful candidate will be able to offer quality instruction in a wide range of undergraduate Cybersecurity courses and is willing and able to teach a range of undergraduate Information Technology (IT) courses both on campus and online.  LSUA is partnering with LSU Online to offer a Baccalaureate degree in Cybersecurity Technology online and will count on the new hire to play a vital role in that partnership.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Typical duties include but are not limited to:

  • Develop and teach undergraduate cybersecurity and IT courses in face-to-face and online formats.
  • Maintain high standards of instruction and utilize innovative teaching methods to support student success.
  • Regularly hold office hours and provide academic support to students in person and electronically.
  • Advise students on academic and career planning.
  • Participate actively in university committees, meetings, and departmental initiatives.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and review processes to ensure alignment with academic goals.
  • Engage in scholarly activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean, Department Chair, or University Administration.
QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate will be hired at the Assistant Professor or Instructor level, depending upon qualifications:

  • Required Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in Cybersecurity or a closely related field, with at least 18 hours of graduate credit in the discipline.
  • For the tenure-track position, a Ph.D. in Cybersecurity or a closely related field. ABD candidates will be considered for the Assistant Professor rank if the Ph.D. is completed by the time of hire.
  • Candidates who do not meet the graduate degree requirements may be considered if they have significant and demonstrable industry experience in cybersecurity, particularly in leadership roles or specialized technical areas.

  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience teaching a wide range of undergraduate cybersecurity and IT courses.
  • Demonstrated excellence in classroom and online teaching.
  • Familiarity with or experience in online course development and delivery.
  • Evidence of engagement in scholarly or professional development activities
