Position Overview:
The Operational Technology (OT) Cybersecurity Engineer performs a critical role in ensuring the safety, security and resiliency of Motiva OT and Industrial Control Systems (ICS) environments. This role requires a strong understanding of network engineering, OT cybersecurity solutions and security operations within the Oil and Natural Gas (ONG) industry.The role will report to the Operational Technology Security Manager.
Responsibilities:
Lead the management and optimization of OT cybersecurity technologies, including Dragos and Claroty.
Coordinate with Managed Security Service Providers (MSSPs) and respond to tasks, issues, or events.
Participate in onsite containment, remediation, and restoration efforts during cybersecurity incidents.
Support internal and external audits, tabletop exercises (TTX) and security risk assessments.
Stay current with industry standards, regulations, and best practices related to OT cybersecurity.
Collaborate with onsite OT/ICS teams to ensure they meet cybersecurity and compliance requirements.
Foster and maintain positive relationships with cybersecurity vendors and business stakeholders.
Conduct training sessions and workshops to educate staff on OT cybersecurity best practices.
Participate in an on-call rotation and rapidly respond to security incidents/events.
Experience and Qualifications:
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, including Information Security, Cybersecurity, Engineering, and/or 7+ years’ experience working in industrial environments with a focus on network engineering. Relevant professional experience may be considered in lieu of the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.
Relevant network engineering and/or cybersecurity certifications, including CCNA and GICSP.
Experience configuring and utilizing cybersecurity solutions including Dragos, Claroty and Tenable.
Good understanding of SCADA, Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and other OT/ICS technologies.
Knowledge of relevant regulations, standards and frameworks, including NIST CSF, ISA 62443, C2M2.
Self-motivated and able to work with limited supervision.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Education and Experience:
5+ years’ experience working in industrial ONG environments with a focus on network engineering.
Relevant network engineering and/or cybersecurity certifications, including CCNP and GRID.
Skills to adapt to a rapidly changing threat landscape and stay current with emerging OT security trends.
Strong self-direction and strategic initiative, consistently delivering results with minimal oversight.
Proven ability to communicate concepts with clarity and influence, fostering trust and collaboration.
