The University of Louisville Information Technology Department is seeking an IT Security Analyst I. The position will assists with regular monitoring, analysis, and response to various types of security issues, both actual and potential, as well as security controls to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the university’s information. Provides day-to-day operations such as customer support for several enterprise level security applications such as the Endpoint Detection and Response solution, and Email threat protection solution. This position also assists with the identification and triage of security incidents. This position is regularly involved in testing new security solutions. This position is responsible for assisting in searching, testing, and upgrading new security products and patches. This position will assist with ensuring endpoints, identities, and software have security controls in place to meet the university’s cyber security strategies.
This position may require access to technology, data and software source code that is subject to US export controls. An offer of employment is contingent upon verifying U.S.-person status or obtaining the necessary export control licenses to perform the job functions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist in the identification of security risks and resolution of general to complex security incidents across multiple technologies.
Assist in identification, isolation, and resolution of security related incidents and alerts.
Create and update information security playbooks for incidents and alerts to ensure process replication and proper handling of cyber threats and vulnerabilities.
Assist in the development of IT security standards and procedures and the dissemination to university community.
Assists with regular security audits and preventive maintenance for enterprise security solutions.
Assist the University CISO in promoting campus wide computer security awareness by participating in various activities on campus to help educate users on information security.
Prepare security awareness documentation that aids in users’ understanding of threats, security policies, standards, and advisories.
Actively participate in the development and delivery of enterprise-wide security awareness and training program.
Conduct vulnerability audits and assessments.
Aid in the issuing and renewing of TLS certificates to support the encryption of data in transit.
Monitor, analyze, and respond to threat intelligence gathering from various channels such as Azure Sentinel, OSINT sources, and industry reports and advisories.
This position will assist with software testing on various applications as well as new security technologies and strategies.
Maintain up-to-date technology trends and architecture and an awareness of emergency security threats and issues.
Perform related duties as assigned.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
One (1) year related experience.
Knowledge of cyber security operations.
Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to prioritize work to meet multiple competing deadlines.
Demonstrated problem-solving abilities with keen attention to detail.
Demonstrated ability to prioritize work to meet multiple, competing deadlines.
Previous experience with system administration and/or network engineering preferred.
Industry recognized information security certification a plus.
Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
