Job Summary
The IT Security Analyst is a member of the Student Affairs Information Technology team that supports the unique applications and technology infrastructure in the Division of Student Affairs.
The IT Security Analyst provides technical expertise and assistance in securing, improving, and maintaining technology and information systems, including applications, servers, endpoints, and peripheral devices. This position is responsible for implementing and monitoring security controls, responding to incidents, and supporting regulatory compliance across the Division, balancing operational needs with a secure environment.

Salary Rate / Pay Rate
$70,000 - $80,000 annual
Required Qualifications
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Bachelorās degree or equivalent in Cybersecurity, Information Technology (IT), IT Management, Software Development, IT systems, or a closely related discipline AND one (1) year of professional level work experience in cybersecurity, hardware/software support, software development, network design, network engineering, IT systems integration, or closely related field.
OR
Three (3) years of professional level work experience in cybersecurity, hardware/software support, software development, network design, network engineering, IT systems integration, or closely related field.
3. Excellent oral and written communications skills.
4. Demonstrated ability to oversee and coordinate activities of user groups.
5. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with other colleagues, supervisors, administrative staff, and other IT users.
6. Ability to identify and resolve technical problems.
7. Demonstrated ability to work independently.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Working knowledge and understanding of cybersecurity and compliance best practices.
2. Experience with conducting and responding to information security audits.
3. Knowledge and understanding of how to develop and implement information security procedures and policies.
4. Ability to analyze and ensure compliance with security frameworks such as HIPAA, CJIS, FERPA, and PCI.
5. Experience managing automated anti-virus updates, security updates, patch management, Microsoft Active Directory, and Microsoft operating systems in an Enterprise environment.
6. Experience with code development and maintenance, automation with tools such as Ansible and YAML, and code management and coordination with Git.
7. Experience with Security Information and Event Management monitoring.
8. Experience with student information systems, medical records, or other regulated data common in higher education settings
Work Hours
Core work hours are 8:00am to 4:30pm, Monday through Friday.

The Civil Service examination for this classification is based on your application materials and responses to the supplemental questions. No participation other than submission of applicant materials is required from applicants that qualify to take the exam. If you meet the minimum required qualifications for this position, you will receive a score calculated based on your education and experience, and your name will be placed on the active employment register by exam score. After the application deadline, the names within the top three scores will be referred to the department for interview. The active register for this classification will be voided when the position is filled.
