Job Description
Join the team redefining how the world experiences design.
Hey, g'day, mabuhay, kia ora, 你好, hallo, vítejte!
Thanks for stopping by. We know job hunting can be a little time consuming and you're probably keen to find out what's on offer, so we'll get straight to the point.
Where and how you can work
Our flagship campus is in Sydney. We also have a campus in Melbourne and co-working spaces in Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide. But you have choice in where and how you work. That means if you want to do your thing in the office (if you're near one), at home or a bit of both, it's up to you.
What you’d be doing in this role
As Canva scales change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that's all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things you'll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve.
At the moment, this role is focused on:
Building resilient, high-throughput data pipelines that transform massive security log streams into actionable insights, ensuring everyone at Canva can make informed security decisions with confidence and speed.
Designing clean, intuitive data models in our Snowflake warehouse to support use cases like UGC entitlement and access patterns, simplifying complex security relationships into efficient, easy-to-query structures.
Implementing streaming and batch processing architectures that handle petabyte-scale security data while maintaining query performance for critical security workflows.
Partnering with Security Engineers, Platform teams, and Product to build data solutions that unlock advanced use cases beyond traditional BI dashboards.
Championing data observability and reliability through comprehensive monitoring, automated data quality checks, and cost-performance optimisation
Enabling engineering teams to independently generate security insights through self-service platforms, while providing deep technical expertise for complex security data problems that drive strategic decision-making and incident response.
You're probably a match if
You have extensive experience in analytics engineering, with strong SQL and Python coding skills, and exposure to modern data warehouses (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery), AWS, and tools like dbt.
You're curious about the security domain and energised by cross-functional collaboration - you enjoy working with security engineers who think differently and solving problems.
You're motivated by protecting our systems and users at scale. You want your work to enable faster threat response, smarter access controls, and more intuitive security tooling for engineering teams globally.
You thrive on turning chaotic, high-velocity security data into rock-solid systems that keep millions of users secure.
You know how to build fault-tolerant pipelines using tools like dbt, Kafka, and modern streaming frameworks.
You have a deep appreciation for privacy, governance, and least privilege principles in security data handling.
You care deeply about data reliability, cost efficiency, and observability in security contexts - you're comfortable building alerting for data SLAs.
