The Role

We’re seeking a detail-oriented Certification & Compliance Engineer (m/f/d) to ensure our products comply with all relevant industry standards, regulations, and certifications. In your role you will work closely with design and testing teams to define, obtain and maintain necessary certifications while ensuring compliance throughout the product lifecycle.

  • Be our go-to-person when it comes to knowledge of regulatory and compliance standards for hardware and software
  • Manage the process of obtaining regulatory and industry certifications (ISO, UL, CE, VG-Normen, MIL-STD) and ensure ongoing compliance
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to identify and define certification requirements early in the product development cycle
  • Develop compliance test plans, assist test engineers, coordinate testing with third-party agencies, and interpret results
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, ensuring information, decisions and reasoning are available to all parties
  • Prepare and submit certification documentation, ensuring accuracy and completeness
  • Interface with regulatory agencies, testing labs, and certification bodies, making sure we deliver great robots.
  • Track and manage certification renewals, updates, and changes in regulatory requirements
  • Support risk assessments and contribute to product safety evaluations
  • Assist in audits related to regulatory and compliance matters
  • Mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of continuous learning and development

Your Profile

  • At least 3 years of experience in product certification and regulatory compliance, ideally in robotics, defense, automotive, aerospace, or related supplier industries
  • Strong understanding of national and international certification standards
  • Experience working with regulatory agencies and third-party testing labs
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences
  • A Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field
  • Excellent communication skills in English.  Strong desire and willingness to learn German
  • Nice to have: 
    • Knowledge of risk management methodologies (e.g., FMEA, hazard analysis)
    • Certification in regulatory compliance or quality management (e.g., DGQ, ASQ, Six Sigma, or similar)
    • Experience developing Hardware and Software on your own
    • Experience with Machinery Directive (2006/42/EC), Low Voltage Directive (2014/35/EU), General Product Safety Directive (2001/95/EC), Cybersecurity Considerations (ISO/IEC 27001 for information management and IEC 62443 for industrial cybersecurity)
