Who we are
Picogrid builds hardware and software infrastructure to connect and control the systems that power critical industries. Our platform unifies sensors, platforms, and operators to power mission planning, autonomous system control, and real-time decision-making.
We partner directly with operators, technology companies, and federal agencies to deliver rapidly deployable, mission-critical capabilities where they’re needed most, often on short timelines and in challenging conditions. Our technology is trusted in active operations, not just test environments, and we move quickly to close real-world capability gaps for those on the front lines.
Joining Picogrid means working on high-impact problems at the intersection of autonomy, national security, and cutting-edge technology. You’ll be part of a small, elite team that builds and ships systems used by the leading organizations around the world. We operate with urgency, ownership, and a deep respect for the mission.
Role Overview
Picogrid is seeking a Senior Cloud Security Architect to lead the implementation and operationalization of security architecture and compliance programs across our distributed edge and cloud environments. This individual will work closely with engineering and operations teams to ensure our systems meet stringent federal and DoD cybersecurity requirements while supporting scalable, secure growth.

At Picogrid, we build technology that directly supports national security missions—our customers rely on us to meet the highest standards of security, compliance, and resilience. As Senior Cloud Security Architect, you will play a key role in building secure systems from the ground up. You will be hands-on in driving design decisions, threat modeling, and building automation to reduce security risk at scale.
This is a unique opportunity to apply your technical expertise and passion for secure architecture in a fast-moving, mission-driven environment where your work will directly contribute to safeguarding critical national infrastructure.
You will:
Design secure architectures and solutions in AWS GovCloud and other classified cloud environments.
Lead technical execution of NIST 800-171 and FedRAMP Moderate/High control implementations.
Serve as a key contributor in audit readiness and compliance reporting processes.
Drive security-focused design reviews and threat modeling for existing and new products.
Support continuous monitoring programs and automate compliance-related processes.
Partner cross-functionally with teams to embed security best practices in SDLC and infrastructure.
Required Qualifications
7+ years of experience in cloud security or security architecture roles.
U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance
Hands-on experience implementing NIST 800-171 and FedRAMP Moderate/High controls.
Familiarity with AWS GovCloud services (IAM, KMS, VPC, CloudTrail, Config, etc.).
Strong understanding of secure software development lifecycle (SDLC) and DevSecOps tooling.
Experience preparing for or supporting FedRAMP and/or DoD compliance audits.
Excellent communication and technical writing skills, particularly in developing security documentation.
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-impact environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with CMMC 2.0 frameworks and DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF).
Professional certifications: CISSP, CCSP, AWS Security Specialty, CISM, or similar.
Scripting and automation skills (e.g., Python, Terraform, bash) for security tooling and infrastructure as code.
Experience with CI/CD security integration.
Who you are
You are a security professional with a passion for protecting sensitive systems and a pragmatic approach to achieving robust security in high-velocity environments. You balance deep technical expertise with cross-functional collaboration and enjoy translating regulatory requirements into actionable security architectures. You thrive in mission-driven teams and are motivated by the impact Picogrid delivers at the intersection of national security and cutting-edge technology.
