By joining our project, you will be working on an initiative of the European Commission focused on creating a more efficient, modern and secure customs environment within the European Union. Being part of this initiative set on a 5 years’ timeline, you will have the opportunity to work on topics such as digitalization of customs processes, streamlining customs procedures to facilitate trade and reduce costs, harmonization of customs rules across all EU member states and combating fraud.

What you'll be doing

Designing and implementing automated workflows to enhance system performance and reduce downtime.

Developing and deploying AI/ML models to predict and prevent IT incidents across Linux, Windows, storage, and backup environments.

Using tools like Ansible, Puppet, or Chef for configuration management and infrastructure automation.

Managing and optimizing Linux and Windows servers, as well as storage and backup solutions.

Implementing and maintaining virtualization platforms such as VMware or Hyper-V.

Building and maintaining monitoring and alerting systems using tools like Nagios, Prometheus, Splunk, and others.

Conducting root cause analysis and troubleshooting complex infrastructure issues.

Implementing AIOps platforms to automate incident detection, correlation, and resolution.

Managing and optimizing ITSM tools (e.g., ServiceNow, BMC Remedy) and workflows in line with ITIL best practices.

Ensuring security and compliance through firewalls, encryption, access controls, and regular audits.

Collaborating with development, operations, and IT teams to support infrastructure needs and deliver resilient services.

Documenting procedures, configurations, and best practices to support knowledge sharing and operational consistency.
What you'll bring along
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Security, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in IT operations, automation, and AIOps practices
- Strong experience with Linux and Windows operating systems, including system administration and optimization.
- Proficiency in storage and backup technologies, and experience with virtualization platforms.
- Solid scripting skills using Python, Bash, or similar languages for automation and integration.
- Experience with AI/ML tools and frameworks such as TensorFlow, Scikit-learn, or similar.
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI) and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform and Ansible.
- Hands-on experience with monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, Prometheus, Splunk) and strong troubleshooting capabilities.
- Knowledge of ITSM platforms and workflow optimization, with a solid understanding of ITIL standards.
- Awareness of security best practices, compliance standards, and experience conducting security audits.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and documentation skills.
- Preferred certifications: CISSP, ITIL, or equivalent.
- Excellent command of both spoken and written English (any other European language would be a plus).
