Responsibilities:
- Track and analyze emerging cybersecurity, data protection, and automation technologies relevant to CMS programs
- Develop reports, technology assessments, and briefings on trends, innovations, and risks associated with new tools and platforms
- Identify opportunities to enhance CMS security capabilities using AI/ML, automation, cloud-native, or behavior analytics technologies
- Collaborate with cybersecurity leads, architects, and CMS stakeholders to evaluate feasibility and implementation pathways
- Conduct comparative analysis and technical recommendations for innovative tools supporting PAM, ZTA, CDM, or threat intelligence functions
- Support innovation pilots or proof-of-concept efforts, documenting lessons learned and scalability considerations
- Assist in integrating innovation planning into CMS strategic cybersecurity roadmaps and maturity models
- Maintain awareness of federal innovation programs, EO guidance, NIST AI RMF, and emerging risk frameworks
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Data Science, or a related technical field
- 4+ years of experience in IT innovation, emerging technologies, or cybersecurity transformation roles
- Familiarity with AI/ML, cybersecurity automation, and federal cloud security practices
- Ability to assess new technologies and communicate technical opportunities and risks to executive stakeholders
- Excellent analytical writing, research, and presentation development skills
- Strong understanding of NIST RMF, ARS 5.0, and Zero Trust concepts
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting CMS or other HHS innovation or digital modernization programs
- Knowledge of NIST AI Risk Management Framework, EO 14028, or CMS security modernization strategy
- Certifications such as CompTIA Data+, AWS Cloud Practitioner, or cybersecurity innovation credentials
