What you'll be doing

As a member of CIBC’s Technology Operations Services team, the Sr. Consultant, Information Technology Risk, Compliance & Controls will be responsible for providing advice and consultation for risk, regulatory and Industry best practices. The Sr. Consultant, Information Technology Risk, Compliance & Controls develops, recommends and facilitates activities required for the continuous management of such programs.  The role manages the response for the Technology Domain in accordance with CIBC’s Regulatory Compliance Management Policy and Technology Risk Management Policy.  In doing so, the senior consultant will monitor the regulatory landscape impacting CIBC from a technology perspective and ensure such regulatory developments are assessed, managed, and tracked in our central repository. The senior consultant will also take part as a key stakeholder in various assessments to provide effective review and challenge of risks related to technology.

How you'll succeed

  • Understanding Regulatory and Industry Best Practices - Work closely with internal and external partners to assess complex requirements and facilitate solution design discussions to ensure needs are met. Build strong relationships, lead discussions, listen and ask the right questions to ensure solutions meet requirements. The ability to work with all lines of businesses to identify risk and completing comprehensive risk assessments. Ensure that all assessments are tracked in a centralized repository. Prepare and maintain comprehensive compliance documentation, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and regulatory alignment that the risk appetite us understood and reflected in each assessment.
  • Solution Design - Gather and validate compliance documents. Provide expert advice and consultation on technology risk. Lead and oversee the technology risk components of compliance programs and regulatory initiatives. Act as a key stakeholder in risk assessments, providing critical review and challenge to ensure technology risks are effectively identified and mitigated. Perform detail assessments on Third Party Risk, Risk associated with changes to the environment, Compliance to standards and periodic evaluation of risk within the environment
  •  Stakeholder & Program Management - Collaborate with technology and information security teams, as well as other lines of business, to ensure regulatory compliance. Support and enhance compliance frameworks, policies, and procedures. Manage stakeholder relationships across different business units, ensuring alignment with compliance objectives.
  • Leading and Mentoring – Support end-to-end compliance as a subject matter expert, and provide guidance to a diverse team of technology and project professionals. Maintain a collaborative work environment and support team members to resolve organizational, operational, and process problems.
  • Data Analysis & Reporting - Perform data analysis and gap assessments, identifying areas of non-compliance and recommending remediation strategies. Utilize Excel (Pivot Tables, data visualization) and other Microsoft Office tools to analyze and present compliance data effectively. Leveraging AI to optimize tasks

 Who you are

  • You can demonstrate experience with: 3-4+ years in a compliance role leading and maintaining programs with the ability to elicit requirements and write strong documentation.  Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to engage technical and non-technical audiences. You have strong abilities around analyzing and understanding data, as well as gap analysis expertise. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with expertise in data interpretation, analysis, and gap assessments. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, data visualization) and other Microsoft Office applications. It’s an asset if you have ITL, PCIDSS, COBIT, CRISC, CISM, CISA,CRM certifications
