Role purpose:

A Secure by Design Consultant is responsible for assessing security risk and compliance in new and existing products and services through carrying out technical security assessments.  

In the first instance, the role holder will work within the Cyber Security Shadow IT programme, focusing on implementing secure by design principles across the Shadow IT inventory including performing assessments, liaising with the business, technology and third-party vendors. They will document their findings, identifying possible actions and themes to make the remediation more efficient.

The Secure by Design Consultant also has an important advisory role and is required to provide security design and architecture guidance as well as general security consultancy within the scope of their role.

Core competencies, knowledge and experience

• The individual should have strong professional experience in information technology, Cyber security with a good level of technical depth, ideally gained in a similar role
• Good knowledge/experience with securing of cloud environments (especially Google Cloud Platform and Amazon Web Services) and web services, container security, connectivity, user access management, networks and penetration testing experience beneficial.
• Good knowledge/understanding of security governance within the delivery types such as Software as a Service, Platform as a Service and Infrastructure as a Service and working alongside the vendor solutions as well.

• The ability to identify, assess and manage the risks.
• Experience in managing stakeholders at different levels of the organization.

Must have technical / professional qualifications:

• University degree in Information Security or equivalent
• One or more of the following: CISSP, CISM, CISA, CRISC, ISO 27001 Lead Auditor, GIAC, TOGAF, SABSA or equivalent
• 5+ years’ work experience in the field of cyber security
