As a Senior Software Engineer, you will play a critical role in securing remote access to cloud-hosted Windows PCs. You will design and implement modern authentication protocols, promote secure-by-default practices, and lead the adoption of phishing-resistant credentials. Your work will directly impact the safety and reliability of remote desktop experiences for users around the world.

Responsibilities
- Design and implement secure, maintainable, and high-performance code.
- Conduct code reviews to ensure quality, reliability, and adherence to best practices.
- Debug and resolve issues using logs, telemetry, and diagnostic tools.
- Contribute to architectural decisions and develop design documentation.
- Ensure compliance with security, privacy, and accessibility standards.
- Act as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) and lead incident response efforts.
- Mentor team members and promote engineering excellence.
- Drive adoption of secure authentication protocols and phishing-resistant credentials.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver end-to-end solutions.
- Continuously improve system reliability and reduce incident volume.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR equivalent experience.
- Professional experience developing software using C++ in a production environment.
- Proven understanding of software security principles, either with hands-on experience implementing secure coding practices or contributing to security-focused projects.
Other Requirements:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
- Experience in modern security protocols such as OpenSSL, NCrypt, OpenID, Entra, WebAuth and Yubikey.
- Experience in cyber security, and how to evaluate and mitigate risks.
- Experience in Windows Internals and distributed systems.
- Solid software development design, debugging and problem-solving skills .
Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.
