Who we’re looking for 

Toyota is looking for team members who are passionate about technology and interested in joining a collaborative and highly motivated team as a Senior Manager – Product Cybersecurity (Embedded Engineering). 

  

The primary responsibility of this role is to utilize engineering expertise to lead the team to design, develop, and deliver security features of products including systems, application and/or solutions, in accordance with appropriate processes, meeting Toyota’s goals for the product.

Reporting to the Product Cybersecurity Engineering General Manager, the person in this role will join the Product Security team to deploy security solutions for applications in a more connected vehicle environment.


What you’ll be doing 

  • People leader responsible for multiple major functions

  • Serve as a force multiplier throughout the department and larger organization - driving the resolution of complex issues whether they require executive engagement and alignment across orgs or companies, SME analysis and guidance, or direct hands-on technical contribution

  • Deliver world-class technical expertise and hands-on contributions to various efforts as needed

  • Serve as a key contributor to the CyberSecurity & Risk Management (CSRM) security vision and strategy, work to align key partners, and overcome resistance through robust technical expertise

  • Leverage advanced vehicle engineering techniques to gather, connect, and analyze diverse data sources, connected technologies producing valuable insights and compelling end to end solutions that inform strategic decision-making

  • Work across a portfolio of cross-functional, product-wide projects in multiple functional areas

  • Engage deeply with various technology teams to drive appropriate security defensive technology design & development for in-car, out-car, accessories and 3rd party integration

  • Oversee the implementation of best development practices for cybersecurity, ensuring consistent, compliant, and unified guidance across projects

  • Promote a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the team

  • Provide mentorship to others within the organization

  • Perform other duties as required

What you bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field

  • Strong experience in embedded technology product development

  • Strong cybersecurity/information security engineering experience,

  • Proven experience and deep knowledge of hardware like Trust Zone and associated software implementation

  • Skills/hands on technical proficiency in multiple cybersecurity-relevant technology disciplines (e.g. in-car networking, cryptography, CPU architectures, operating system internals, application security, digital forensics, incident response, environment hardening, architecture, embedded integration, wireless technologies etc.) DevOps practices, and large-scale enterprise systems

  • Masterful written and communication skills with experience in executive engagement

  • Hardware: CPU architecture, Hardware Security Module / Trusted Platform Module (HSM/TPM), wireless technologies: cellular, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth (BT)

  • OS: Macro and monolith kernels like QNX, AGL, Android 

  • Security Frameworks & Tools: encryption standards, firewalls, and intrusion detection/prevention systems

  • Version Control: Git, GitHub, GitLab

  • Containerization & Orchestration: Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift

Added bonus if you have

  • Master’s Degree in Engineering and/or certifications in cybersecurity

  • Experience with embedded AI/ML, including Generative AI and common GAI platforms

  • Cloud Platforms: AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP)

  • CI/CD Tools: Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, CircleCI

  • Programming Languages: Java, Python, C#, Go, PowerShell, JavaScript/NodeJS, Bash, SQL

  • Microservices & API Management: REST, GraphQL, API Gateways (e.g., Kong, Apigee)

  • Databases: SQL (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL), NoSQL (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra), Data Lakes, and Data Warehousing solutions (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift)

  • Monitoring & Observability: New Relic, Splunk, Datadog

  • Networking: Software-defined networking (SDN), VPNs, load balancing, firewalls, VPC configurations

  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, Azure Resource Manager (ARM)
