About Us

A career at Hitachi Rail will help create a legacy. With operations in every corner of the world, our work goes to the cutting-edge of digital transformation and technology. From the multi-cultural strength of our global organisation to the sustainable and innovative ways we work to bring people together, there’s something for everyone to get stuck into. And that’s where you come in.

Copenhagen, Denmark (On-Site)

About the Project

In 2012, Banedanmark—the Danish rail infrastructure authority—awarded a consortium of Hitachi and Strukton Rail the contract to modernize the signalling systems across Jutland (Western Denmark). This effort covers approximately 1,200 km (around 60%) of Denmark’s railway network, transitioning it to the European standard ETCS Level 2 System.

Hitachi has since led the design and implementation of this transformation, in collaboration with partners in Germany and the Netherlands. Internally known as the F-Bane Project, this major initiative is currently moving into its maintenance phase.

About the Role

We are seeking a Network and Cybersecurity Engineer to join our Technical Department in Copenhagen. In this role, you will support the design, configuration, and integration of Hitachi's Train Management System (TMS) infrastructure for the ERTMS L2 signalling system.

You will work in close coordination with colleagues in Germany, local engineers, and Banedanmark to implement secure and reliable IT network solutions. Regular collaboration with the maintenance team and customer stakeholders will be a key part of your responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement IT, network, and cybersecurity features into the system design.

  • Ensure customer acceptance of the network and cybersecurity setup.

  • Configure and support a Cisco-based network environment.

  • Implement and test VPN solutions as part of the system architecture.

  • Support the management and integration of digital certificates and PKI.

  • Assess and manage security vulnerabilities and related risks.

  • Apply ISO 27001/27002-compliant security configurations across the project.

  • Coordinate with the maintenance security team on active issues and strategy.

  • Support the test, commissioning, and maintenance teams with technical troubleshooting.

  • Participate in the Information Security Incident Response Team.

  • Provide regular reporting to the Project Design Authority.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve IT, network, and cybersecurity issues.

  • Assist in the integration of IT systems into project infrastructure.

Your Skills & Experience

We’re looking for candidates with a hands-on technical background and strong problem-solving skills who can thrive in collaborative, cross-functional environments.

Required:

  • Solid experience in IT, network, and cybersecurity design or operations.

  • Strong working knowledge of ISO 27001/27002 security standards.

  • Experience configuring and operating Layer 2/3 networks and VPNs.

  • Experience managing security vulnerabilities and risks.

  • Familiarity with virtualization technologies and IT infrastructure.

  • Ability to articulate and document technical design clearly.

  • Understanding of PKI and digital certificate systems.

  • Excellent communication skills in English (written and spoken).

Nice to Have:

  • Experience working in railway or other safety-critical systems.

  • Knowledge of Unix/Linux environments.

  • Familiarity with IEC62443 or similar cybersecurity frameworks.
