About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking an External Communications Lead. This position will focus on strategic internal and external communications for Wells Fargo’s Technology organization. The individual contributor will create and execute internal strategic communications plans supporting Technology’s business priorities and also devise media relations strategies to promote Wells Fargo’s strategic external objectives related to the company’s technology strategy.

 

In this role, you will: 

  • Provide strategic communications counsel to Technology leaders  

  • Create a media relations and reputational management program that favorably positions Wells Fargo Technology and drives forward the company’s artificial intelligence and cybersecurity narrative 

  • Develop and implement internal and external communications strategies and tactics to promote Technology’s strategic priorities 

  • Write and edit a variety of complex and/or sensitive communications including breaking news and announcements, press releases, key messages, media statements, Q&As, and talking points 

  • Prepare issues management plans, in concert with senior leaders and partners 

  • Offer insights and influence decision-making based on risk or reputational matters 

  • Track and measure results to ensure they are in line with intended outcomes and business objectives 

  • Collaborate across Public Affairs to coordinate work and ensure a “One Wells Fargo” approach

Required Qualifications 

  • 7+ years of Public Relations, Media Relations or Corporate Communications experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education 

 

Desired Qualifications 

  • Experience developing integrated and executive communications strategies and plans  

  • Experience with media relations, developing and managing relationships with journalists and media outlets 

  • Experience developing compelling content and leveraging multiple channels for creative storytelling 

  • Experience developing proactive media pitches that promote a business 

  • Experience prepping executives for delivering internal communications and high-profile media interviews, and speaking engagements 

  • Experience leveraging data and analytics to shape communications strategies 

  • Experience building strong relationships and collaborating across large organizations and with media 

  • Agency or consultancy experience managing multiple clients or projects across diverse topics, including artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and reputational issues

  • Proven ability to develop media strategies, pitch stories, and build strong relationships with journalists

  • Strong writing skills with the ability to distill complex topics into clear, compelling narratives for both internal and external audiences

Pay Range
 

Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to achievements, skills, experience, or work location. The range listed is just one component of the compensation package offered to candidates.

$139,000.00 - $217,000.00
