Raytheon, an RTX business, is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to join our Systems Engineering team. Our engineers provide technical direction and design support to Agile software development teams and other engineering personnel. They perform technical analyses and define system functionality by creating use cases, designing system capabilities and features, and defining system interfaces and acceptance criteria.

In this role, the candidate will support the implementation of key aspects of the program’s systems engineering efforts. Success in this position requires experience with the systems engineering development lifecycle, particularly within an Agile environment.

What You Will Do

  • Collaborate with the multi discipline engineering teams to design and develop software

  • Assist in providing technical information and clarification during the entire software development Lifecyle, from conceptualization and design to development, testing, deployment, and operations

  • Perform solution decomposition from customer requirements, to capabilities, to features, to stories according to SAFe Agile practices

  • Apply systems engineering expertise to feature designs to reduce overall risk to the software development effort and work with multidiscipline SMEs to fully understand the solution and document the designs

  • Ability to obtain a polygraph after start.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience; or an advanced degree in a related field and minimum 3 years’ experience

  • Experience with systems engineering throughout the full software development lifecycle, including Agile methodologies, system-level design, integration, test, and verification activities

  • Experience with developing solution definitions, performing system decomposition, creating design artifacts, and/or defining system acceptance criteria

  • Experience with revising Interface Control Documents (ICDs), APIs, and/or system specifications, as well as managing requirements using DOORS or similar requirements management tools

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Experience with the Intelligence Community (IC) domain, including familiarity with GEOINT still imagery data formats

  • Experience working in an Agile development team environment with multi-disciplined engineers and stakeholders

  • Experience in cloud or cloud-hybrid development and deployment environments, and with containerized software system architecture

  • Experience working in the IC domain utilizing GEOINT data types and message formats

  • Experience with streaming data formats including Full Motion Video (FMV) and/or Moving Target Indicator (MTI) data

  • Experience using MBSE processes and tools to capture systems design and elaboration in Cameo or similar tool

  • Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.

The salary range for this role is 82,000 USD - 164,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
