Position Summary:
Command Cyber Solutions is seeking a Senior Front-End Developer to support the IRS Business Tax Account (BTA) modernization effort as part of the Taxpayer Experience (TXE) strategy. The Senior Front-End Developer will design and implement intuitive, user-centered web interfaces that align with the U.S. Web Design System (USWDS), IRS Online Design Guide (ODG), and federal accessibility requirements (WCAG 2.2 AA). This role will collaborate with UX/UI designers, back-end developers, product owners, and other stakeholders to deliver modern, responsive, and accessible taxpayer-facing applications.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Lead the development of responsive, accessible, and user-friendly web interfaces for IRS taxpayer-facing applications.
Collaborate with UX/UI designers to translate wireframes and prototypes into high-quality code using React, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3.
Ensure compliance with WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility standards and GSA 18F Front-End Guide styling requirements.
Work with back-end developers to integrate APIs and ensure seamless data exchange between front-end and back-end systems.
Implement best practices for front-end performance optimization, code quality, and maintainability.
Develop unit and integration tests to achieve high test coverage and support automated testing within CI/CD pipelines.
Participate in Agile ceremonies, backlog refinement, sprint planning, and technical reviews.
Education, Certification & Experience Requirements:
Education Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
Certification Required:
This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust background investigation in accordance with IRS and Department of the Treasury personnel security policies.
Minimum Requirements: Favorable Tier 2 – Moderate Risk Public Trust (SF-85P) investigation.
Elevated Eligibility: Tier 4 – High Risk Public Trust (SF-85P) investigation, if duties involve elevated system privileges, access to sensitive IRS systems, or handling Federal Tax Information (FTI).
Staff-Like Access: Contractor personnel must receive a favorable suitability determination before being granted staff-like access to IRS information systems.
Employment is contingent upon passing the required background investigation and maintaining eligibility throughout the period of performance.
CompTIA Sec+ (or equivalent DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification) (Required).
AWS Certified Developer – Associate or AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate (Preferred).
Certified Scrum Developer (CSD) or other Agile-related certification (Preferred).
Certified Secure Software Library Professional (CSSLP) or equivalent security-focused credential (Preferred).
SAFe Practitioner or related scaled Agile certification (Preferred).
Experience Required:
7+ years of experience as a front-end developer, with at least 3+ years in a senior or lead role on IT or government projects.
Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments on large-scale digital modernization efforts.
Familiarity with IRS cloud environments, accessibility compliance, and government web standards.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Deep understanding of React, JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, CSS3, and front-end frameworks and libraries.
Strong knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG 2.2 AA), responsive design principles, and federal design guidelines.
Proficiency in integrating RESTful APIs, optimizing front-end performance, and working in cloud-based development environments.
Skilled in version control (Git), CI/CD pipelines, and testing frameworks such as Jest, Cypress, or Selenium.
Ability to design and implement scalable, reusable front-end components aligned with enterprise design systems.
Ability to lead technical discussions, mentor developers, and ensure best practices in front-end development.
Working Conditions/Working Environment/Physical Demands:
This position is a remote position, with potential for periodic on-site presence in Washington, D.C., for key technical meetings, design sessions, or project milestones.
Hours of operation are M-F between 0800-1630.
Occasionally, project requirements may require temporary adjustment of work hours/days
Duties are subject to change based on the needs of the customer
