Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Principal Cyber Systems Engineer (Level 3) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Test & Evaluation team based out of Melbourne, FL. 

As a Cyber Systems Engineer, you will be part of a team encompassing the full product lifecycle of a software development and test environment using your knowledge of operating system administration, web app design, and security monitoring tools.

Key Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintain availability and security compliance of Information Systems in a complex simulation environment.
  • Ensure systems adhere to program configuration and data management plans
  • Ensure adherence to Cyber Operations Policy and Procedures   
  • Establish strict program control processes to ensure mitigation of risks and support certification and accreditation of systems
  • Periodically conduct a complete review of system audits and monitor corrective actions
  • Provide operations support at varying shift times.

Basic Qualifications

  • Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) discipline and 5 years of related professional/military experience; OR a Master’s Degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of related professional/military experience; OR a Ph.D. in a STEM discipline and 1 year of related professional/military experience.
  • Must have an active DoD Secret or higher clearance (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance, prior to the commencement of employment.
  • Must possess a current DoD 8570 Level 2 Certification (i.e. Security+ CE or equivalent).
  • Professional experience deploying, configuring, or managing systems using Microsoft Configuration Manager (MCM) / System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM).


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Expert knowledge of access controls and comprehensive experience in utilizing monitoring tools such as Splunk, Nessus, and SolarWinds to effectively detect and respond to security incidents.
  • Demonstrable expertise in the management of Windows Server and Desktop systems.
  • High level of proficiency in RHEL (Red Hat Enterprise Linux).
  • Current in-scope DoD Top Secret security clearance.
  • Proficiency in the administration of Atlassian, Coverity, and Fortify web applications, with a focus on the identification and resolution of performance issues.
  • Experience working with DevOps Processes and Cloud Infrastructure.
  • Systems administration experience, to include Linux, and VM environments.

Salary Range: $104,800.00 - $157,200.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
