The Biomedical Information Technology Engineer is responsible for performing functions required to support confidentiality, integrity and availability of St. Lukeās University Health Networks critical networked medical devices. Participates in many aspects of the lifecycle of medical equipment. Performs or facilitates pre-purchase and annual cyber security risk assessments. Assists the department personnel with resolving IT and Network issues that prevent a device from performing and providing for patient careJOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Install, Operate and Maintain medical devices on the St. Lukeās Network, in a matter consistent with security responsibilities, including firewalls, proxy systems, logging, and other security devices and appliances.
Provide medical equipment security expertise and network infrastructure expertise to the department.
Collaborates on network & security requirements, based on the overall security strategy.Ā
Reviews and implements technology solutions to comply with established security standards while facilitating patient care.
Assists with prepurchase and lifecycle evaluations of medical equipment and medical equipment device manufacturerās cyber security and architecture.
Develop new technology standards as necessary with direct integration with Infrastructure architects.
Maintains current knowledge of technology by attending appropriate continuing education training/seminars and reading related periodicals.
Participates in Hospital/Network Committees as assigned.
PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:
Requires standing for up to eight hours a day or walking for up to four per day. Sitting for extended periods of time. Frequent fingering, handling and twisting and turning in using hand tools or other situations. Lifting and carrying items weighting up to 60 pounds. Occasional pulling and pushing objects weighing greater than 300 pounds. Climbing vertical ladders up to 20 feet. Seeing as it relates to normal vision, and hearing as it relates to normal hearing. Sense of smell as it relates to distinguishing burning or other odors when working on equipment.
EDUCATION:
Bachelorās degree in a Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems or Engineering Field 3 years or more supporting Biomedical devices and/or Networking Preferred: CISSP, HCISSP, ITIL4, CBET, CRES, CHTM, PMP certification is preferred.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Three or more years working as a biomedical engineer, senior analyst or team lead, and member of collaborative teams. Working knowledge of web application firewalls, load balancers and proxies (BlueCoat). Experience with the design and configuration of a network DMZ. Demonstrated experience in computer security combined with risk analysis, audit, and compliance objectives. Experience working with the repair, maintenance and networking of durable medical equipment. Experience working with information security practices, networks, software, and hardware. Experience with security scanning tools, specifically Nessus and Acunetix, Lansweeper, and others. Experience with configuration of endpoints and their management with security software such as Symantec, McAfee, Microsoft, and Firedog Anti-Virus, Anti-Malware, Encryption, HIPS, and others. Familiarity with blacklisting and whitelisting tools. Strong process-oriented individual with experience in ITIL concepts. Highly responsive and proven professionalism in communication, interpersonal, analytical, and organizational skills. Ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
