Summary
SRP is recruiting for a student intern to join the Cyber Security team and support SRP's mission to provide reliable, affordable, and sustainable water and energy to our customers and community by participating in cyber security initiatives that protect SRP operations. College students studying relevant disciplines such as Cyber Security, Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, or other related fields are highly encouraged to apply. The initial average work week is 20-25 hours based on department need. Student interns may have an opportunity to work up to 40 hours per week as their schedules allow.
What You'll Do
- Collaborating with the Cyber Security Services team to document and maintain technical processes, procedures, workflow diagrams, and presentations.
- Gathering information from technical and nontechnical subject matter experts to develop, organize, and write technical documentation.
- Creating knowledge articles on cyber security topics for use by both technical and business stakeholders.
- Assisting with cyber security assessment activities for internal technologies/systems and third-party vendors.
- Participating in programs and projects that cross intra-organizational boundaries requiring coordination with organization-wide team
- Communicating, expanding, and contributing to SRP's cyber security compliance and risk management programs.
- Coordinating cyber security remediation management activities.
- Supporting the ServiceNow Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) tool.
What It Takes To Succeed
- To be eligible for the Student Intern Program at SRP, the employee must be actively enrolled in a minimum of six (6) credit hours that are college level (100) or above over the course of a regular semester and must be working towards a degree from an accredited college or university.
- For an accelerated program, the student must be enrolled in six credit hours in the equivalent of a traditional semester.
- Pay rate is $18.75 per hour for an undergraduate intern and $20.80 per hour for a graduate intern.
- This is a paid opportunity for a student working a minimum of 15 hours per week. However, work hours and schedules may fluctuate based on departmental needs.
Experience
Overall, the successful candidate must demonstrate strong communication skills, familiarity with cyber security risk and compliance concepts, and familiarity with general information technology concepts. Preferred skills include:
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including understanding of good documentation practices.
- Solid time management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Proficient working in Microsoft 365 applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
- Experience with any of the following is beneficial and preferred, but not required:
- Working with information technology infrastructure components, hardware, software, operating systems, and applications.
- Processing work items in ServiceNow, including Incidents, Requests, Tasks, and Issues.
- Diagraming and documenting workflows, processes, and procedures.
- Participating in security compliance and risk assessments, testing controls to determine security risk, and providing recommendations to technology groups.
Education
College level coursework (100+) from an accredited institution will be evaluated on an individual basis according to the skill/level to determine if applicable to the position by management.
Hybrid Workplace
SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona. We are taking steps to protect the health and well-being of all team members, and by following a number of health and safety protocols, to reduce the risk of the coronavirus (COVID-19).
