Job Summary
The Admin II, Information Security is responsible for the implementation, configuration, administration, and troubleshooting of security controls necessary to protect the agency end user computing systems, networks, and data. Working hand in hand with members of the Security Operations Center (SecOps) and Information Security team members will monitor the agency ICT (Information and Communications Technology) systems and services for potential threats, respond to incidents and support the mitigation actions resulting from potential vulnerabilities, reporting issues, and escalating to the team leadership when necessary.
Roles and Key Responsibilities
- Install, administer, and troubleshoot ICT security solutions
- Configure security systems, analyze security requirements, and recommend improvements
- Implement end user computing, network, application security policies, access control and organization data safeguards
- Monitor software compliance and initiate necessary remediations requests
- Assist the information security team with the implementation of ICT security controls and measures designed to mitigate cybersecurity risks.
- Monitor the agency standard protection and virus detection applications
- Perform and respond to the results of vulnerability scans, identifying and defending against cybersecurity threats
- Respond to alerts escalated by the MXDR (Managed Extended Detection and Response) vendor, logs generated in our security systems and execute the information security established protocols for remediation
- Create, review, maintain and update ICT security documentation, and knowledge base articles
- Prepare necessary reports that take note of security incidents
- Research the latest in information technology security trends to keep up to date with the subject and use the latest technology to protect information.
- Assist with the development of security plans for best standards and practices for the organization
- Make recommendations to managers and senior executives about security advancements to best protect the agency’s systems.
- Assist the Information Security team with the implementation and advancement of the Information Security Awareness program agency wide
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, cybersecurity, related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in related area
- Demonstrated mastery in related area technologies
- Demonstrated mastery in servers, networking, end user device management and support
- Basic experience in security administration operations, tools, and processes
- Knowledge in diagnosing virus, malware infections, and executing necessary rectification actions
- Experience with Microsoft Windows operating systems, Windows Active Directory Services, Azure AD (Active Directory) and Office 365
- ITIL Foundation certification
- Track record of reliable and consistent performance.
