The key purpose of this role is to lead the innovation and evangelise the future of managed security services. This is to support BT Security’s revenue growth ambitions for Security aiming towards 2030 and beyond. As the Principal Security Architect you'll ensure BT Security’s readiness for the future of security. Technology landscapes are constantly evolving and innovating and we must ensure we are in prime position to adapt and pre-empt that in the portfolio.
The scale and pace of Security's growth ambitions require continued focus on the development of innovative initiatives and processes that push us beyond BAU; and empower us to meet our MTP and go beyond. This role will be key in strategy execution – supporting our customers and sales teams from the front line, engaging and assessing new and existing partner technology as well as defining new process developments.
With Security as a major growth engine of BT Group and a core part of BT’s 2030 ambition, you will be front-and-centre in defining and enabling BT Security’s current and future success.
What you’ll be doing
• Will create, own, drive and support architecture for the Eagle-i platform and business area, including new architecture design needed to bring Eagle-i automation into SMB.
• Owns and maintains a futures candidate roadmap for the Futures team including Eagle-i, BT’s strategic automation, detection and response platform. The objective is for business stakeholders to build portfolio roadmap from this output.
• Defines and leads new strategic process to co-create, design and build new services between BT and Customer. This speeds up C2M process.
• Responsible for answering the most complex questions regarding technology capabilities and requirements and shapes consultation on complex customer and product projects.
• Will scout ahead on change in the industry, BT incubation and BT applied research and communicate architectural assessment and insight to help set Security Portfolio future strategy, and decide which futures activities require rapid impact analysis activities and will identify the right stakeholders in Futures team to run these assessments.
• Drives the identification of major data risks, as well as risk resolution and mitigation when bringing new innovation to life e.g. use of AI.
Experience required
• Depth of cyber security experience, ideally with operational / delivery / forensics / etc. experience.
• Developing long term roadmaps linked to business outcomes.
• Enterprise Architecture Frameworks and their relevance to the practice of Enterprise Architecture.
• Can demonstrate technical abilities, balanced with a commercial flair, to understand what future investments are in BT’s holistic interests
• Able to navigate large, complex organisations.
• Demonstrable experience of CISSP, CISSM or similar.
• Engaging with customers and supporting bids up to the C suite, in particular CISO, CIO, CTO.
Skills
• Building new security designs and services for BT portfolio team to standardise. Will scout ahead on change in the security industry and be on the front foot of commercial disruptors.
• Skilled in architecture frameworks and have worked in a large organisation. You will have led material business change through architecture and be recognised as an experienced technical expert.
• Commercial acumen: Able to build business cases and gain approval at senior level, negotiate, optimise costs and spot strong investment opportunities for BT as a Managed Security Services Provider.
• Able to drive, define and execute a joined-up long term cyber strategy and associated plan which is frequently and regularly updated in line with market insights, industry disruptors and differentiation opportunities as a MSSP. Plus buy in from senior management on said strategic plan.
• Able to communicate and present futures roadmap, long term cyber strategy and new platform architectural designs in an engaging manner to internal and external customers, which addresses business outcomes.
• Leading the implementation of continuous improvement opportunities to improve enterprise architecture processes and BT Security’s adoption of new capabilities through monitoring performance measures. Inspiring teams to adopt business and technical change in a smooth manner.
