What you’ll be doing
Reporting to the Senior Director, Privacy Office (Canada), this role is responsible for leading a team of privacy professionals to ensure the effective advisory and consulting services align to CIBC’s privacy framework as well as associated policies and procedures. The Director, Privacy Office – Advisory (Canada) role will support the Global Privacy Program governance activities to ensure privacy risk is effectively managed in Canada.

How you’ll succeed
Privacy Risk Oversight – Oversee and lead a team of privacy professionals in advisory and consulting activities to ensure effective oversight and challenge of privacy risk to CIBC Canadian initiatives; supporting Canadian businesses to achieve their strategic objectives while ensuring effective management of privacy risks and controls.
Regulatory Oversight – Stay abreast of changes in relevant privacy laws, regulations and industry standards in order to provide proactive and relevant privacy advice and guidance to Canadian businesses.
Collaborate – Work with the Global Privacy Office to support privacy risk management reporting, completeness of RCM activities, and timely resolution of privacy regulatory issues. Maintain active and effective communication and relationships with Lines of Business leaders and second line of defense groups to ensure effective oversight processes and mitigations are in place to manage privacy risk. Develop and maintain working relationships with other team members within CGRA.
Identify – Define and enhance new process improvement opportunities to enhance effective privacy risk management through privacy advisory services.
Who you are
You can demonstrate experience. 7+ years' experience in privacy and/or regulatory compliance. Knowledge of global privacy regulations, concepts, procedures and principles.
You have a degree/diploma. University Degree/College Diploma or equivalent work experience with a minimum of 7 years related experience in privacy and/or regulatory compliance. Current accreditation with the International Association of Privacy Professionals – CIPP/C is preferred.
