Position Title: SOC Threat Hunt Manager

Location: United Kingdom

Role Summary:

As a SOC Threat Hunt Manager within NCC Groups MXDR SOC, your role is to carry out regular threat hunts across our MXDR SOC clients. This role focusses around the development of the hypothesis led, native threat hunting capability to provide our clients with bleeding edge detections in response to live, real-world threats. You will be responsible for a small team of threat hunters who will carry out the ad-hoc and scheduled monthly threat hunts and report on them accordingly.

Responsibilities:

  • Carry out hypothesis-based threat hunting on a regular basis across our MXDR SOC client base. This includes customers under our XDR for Sentinel & XDR for Splunk Managed Services.
  • Carry out monthly TI driven threat hunts across our MXDR SOC client base. This includes customers under our XDR for Sentinel & XDR for Splunk Managed Services.
  • Response to NCC Group TI alerts with ad-hoc threat hunts across our MXDR SOC client base. This includes customers under our XDR for Sentinel & XDR for Splunk Managed Services.
  • Regularly report to both Head of SOC and directly to clients on threat hunts conducted and the results of those hunts.
  • Candidates should note, this is an expansion of an existing part of the MXDR SOC and will be required to build up some areas of the threat hunting process from the ground up, in conjunction with the Head of SOC.
  • Support the Head of SOC UK in client engagements across our Leeds & Manchester offices, as well as occasional on-site visits to clients when necessary.

What we are looking for in you:

We’re looking for a motivated individual that wants to experience the excitement and challenge of working in a fast-evolving business. We don’t expect the chosen candidate to know everything, but a successful candidate will have an eagerness to learn with a good understanding of the operation of Security Operation Centres and detection/response.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Good understanding of basic cyber security principles
  • Experiencing with working in/around Security Operation Centres
  • Experience of using and/or managing SIEM/EDR/SOAR platforms
  • Ability to work, and manage time and tasks independently

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of experience within a threat hunting role.
  • Strong people management and leadership skills.
  • Experience developing threat hunting processes.
  • Microsoft SC200 Certified

Desirable Requirements

  • Splunk Certified Power User/Advanced Power User
  • CompTIA Certifications (Security+/ Network+/ Linux+)
  • Crest, GIAC or CISSP Certification
