Job Description

The Cloud Security Engineering team is within the Verisk CISO organization and responsible for helping ensure every cloud-based application is secure, and also increasing the assurance levels of security in the infrastructure underlying all our products. Our team also focuses on increasing the capabilities of each application team to develop more secure products by design and by default, from patterns, tools and frameworks to increasing the skill level of embedded security leads. As the Senior Security Engineer II Cloud, you will help to ensure that our software and systems are designed and implemented to the highest security standards. You will perform technical security assessments, code reviews and vulnerability testing to highlight risk, helping Verisk teams and partners to improve security, and work on a wide variety of software designs and technology stacks.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with the Application Engineering teams to ensure the security of every cloud-based application.
• Enhance security assurance levels in the infrastructure supporting Verisk products.
• Work closely with application teams to develop secure products by design and default, leveraging patterns, tools, and frameworks.
• Elevate the skill level of embedded security leads.
• Design and implement software and systems to the highest security standards.
• Conduct technical security assessments, code reviews, and vulnerability testing.
• Highlight risks and provide recommendations to improve security.
• Engage with Verisk teams and partners to enhance overall security posture.
• Contribute to a wide variety of software designs and technology stacks.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

• Studying towards professional certifications in cybersecurity and cloud technology (e.g., CCSK, AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate, AWS Certified Security – Specialty).
• Industry apprenticeship training or a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Technical knowledge of cybersecurity foundations, including security reference architectures.
• At least 4 years of experience as a Cloud/IT architect, DevSecOps role, or Security Engineer, with expertise in Cloud Environments (preferably AWS, but Azure and GCP are also desired).
• Demonstrable capabilities in structured work assignments and leading small teams.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with analytical and critical thinking abilities.
