Role purpose
The role of the EUC Engineer – Endpoint Security Specialist as part of the infrastructure team reporting to the Microsoft Platform Lead, is to support the implementation, maintenance and lifecycle of products relating to MDM and End User Compute – including but not limited to Intune, Autopilot, GPO’s, End User Devices, Microsoft 365, Windows and core applications.
This role has a particular focus on ensuring that endpoint devices are configured as securely as possible and conform to all relevant requirements with appropriate baselines. As part of the role, you will also provide input and support for products such as Mobile Devices and act as an escalation point for all matters related to endpoint Security. You will also work with the Senior EUC Engineer and wider team to support the delivery of the IT roadmap aligned to the wider LRQA Business Strategy.
The role requires someone with experience of working within an Agile environment and experience of remotely supporting endpoints from various vendors in a global organisation. The role holder is also responsible for ensuring that all EUC configurations are maintained, monitored, and checked for issues with resolutions delivered as soon as possible while conforming to good security practices. You will also be responsible for delivering project objectives aligned to the relevant standards and processes. You will also contribute into the strategy for the platforms to evolve capabilities and identify areas of cost saving opportunity to ensure that EUC operations run within budget.
You will be responsible for implementing enhancements and changes to platform capabilities and your skills and expertise will lend you to being involved in larger programme activities that require input for domains relevant to the role. You will also provide guidance and share knowledge and experience with colleagues to enable them to make full use of the EUC and MDM platforms, as well as supporting adoption on new and existing capabilities. You will also work to ensure that the objective secure score for the platform is reached and work to ensure that non-compliant endpoints are remediated.
You will work closely with support vendors to ensure that incidents and requests related to the platforms are handled within the agreed service levels and act as an agent for any technical escalations that require specialist support.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the implementation, support and transition of new capabilities and the development of new functionality within the EUC environment.
- Work in an Agile environment in 2-week sprints attending and contributing to all relevant Agile ceremonies.
- Be the focal point within the team for anything related to endpoint security, compliance and polices, following Microsoft best practice guidelines where appropriate.
- Work as part of the EUC team to contribute and build a roadmap of change and improvements.
- Ensure that all work meets the requirements of the security and architecture teams and work with those teams to follow established processes.
- Work with vendor support on incidents and requests related to the platform and follow through and ensure timely resolutions and escalate as required.
- Transition new capabilities and functionalities into support providing the relevant adoption and governance.
- Work in an ITSM capacity delivering incident, change, and problem management support – including incident response, root cause analysis and implementation of changes in line with IT processes and CAB.
- Act as an escalation point for support teams – providing Level 3 support for Intune, MDM and other services in scope of the EUC team.
- Provide input and support to programmes or projects that have EUC and/or MDM requirements and act as a focal point for those activities.
- Be an agent for change, embracing new technologies and supporting the business to realise the value to our customers and our business working in conjunction with other teams.
Requirements
- Technical background with at least 3 years of working experience as an EUC engineer.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience working with device management (Windows, IoS and Android) and deployment and configuration experience using Entra ID and Intune with a focus on endpoint security.
- Practical experience of working with EUC hardware such as Dell, Lenovo and HP.
- Experience of writing PowerShell scripts for remediation.
- Experience of Endpoint security and compliance within a global environment.
- Experience of working and managing EUC environments via GPO, Active Directory and Entra ID.
- Experience of working in an Agile environment and with a multi-disciplined team.
- Effective communication skills to engage with an ability to not only listen but also advise providing appropriate challenges and questions to find the correct resolution.
- Solid grasp of ITIL around Release, Deployment and Change Management.
- Curious and continuous learner – investigates, interprets, and grasps new concepts.
- Self-motivated and can use own initiative to work with limited guidance to implement innovative solutions.
- Ability to understand and assess complex and sometimes unfamiliar situations, visualise solutions and see through to resolution.
