Sr. Systems Administrator

Air Force TENCAP exploits National space, cyber and intelligence capabilities to deliver rapid, cost-dominant and innovative warfighting solutions across the full spectrum of Air Force and Joint military missions. As the Air Force's leader for National-to-Tactical capability development, AF TENCAP collaborates with leading experts across the Intelligence Community, Department of Defense, National Laboratories, industry, inter-agency, academia, and partner nations.

The Systems Administrator is responsible for overseeing the deployment, management, and optimization of our on-prem and cloud-based infrastructure. You will ensure the availability, security, and scalability of our systems, including overseeing cloud migrations, monitoring system performance, and resolving technical issues as they arise. Your role will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams to help design and implement solutions that meet the organization's needs, managing user access and permissions, and implementing best practices for cloud resource management and cost optimization. Additionally, you will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of cloud platforms (such as AWS and Azure), strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Work Location: 
Colorado Springs, CO – 100% onsite

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Manage and maintain on-prem and cloud-based information systems, ensuring availability, performance, scalability, and security.
  • Harden information systems against NIST, DoD, and IC security requirements to include the NIST 800-53 and 800-171 controls, and DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and Security Requirements Guides (SRGs).
  • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues proactively.
  • Collaborate with development teams to deploy applications and ensure they meet scalability, reliability, and security requirements.
  • Manage and automate routine administrative tasks, ensuring efficiency and accuracy.
  • Stay up-to-date with and implement the latest industry technologies, trends, and best practices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the security of new and existing systems and applications.
  • Lead or attend meetings with system stakeholders to discuss statuses of efforts.

Security Clearance:

  • Active DoD Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in computer, information systems or related field and at least seven (7) years of directly relevant work experience in IT
  • DoD 8570-compliant IAT Level II certification (e.g. CompTIA Security+)
  • Experience with cloud service providers (CSPs) (e.g. AWS, Azure)
  • Demonstrated experience with Linux (e.g. Red Hat Enterprise Linux)
  • Experience with technologies such as Kubernetes, Puppet, and Ansible
  • Experience in implementing DISA STIGs and SRGs
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Basic Compensation: $130K – $160K 
The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.

Additional Compensation:

KBR may offer bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation to certain job titles or levels, per internal policy or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be in the form of sign on bonus, relocation benefits, short term incentives, long term incentives, or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
