Team Introduction
The Security Research Department at ByteDance is dedicated to the research and application of Privacy Enhancing Technologies (PETs), including federated learning, multi-party security computation, trusted computing, differential privacy, and ciphertext computation. Our team leads the Jeddak Project, which aims to develop a trusted privacy computing platform that incorporates our advanced research on various PETs. This project plays a crucial role in enhancing data security and privacy throughout the entire lifecycle of cross-departmental data sharing.

Our research is driven by real business needs and has been integrated into over 70 internal and external projects, including the ToB projects of Volcano Engine and the Private Data Platform for data sharing control at ByteDance. To address industry-level challenges, we have established strong collaborations with renowned research institutes in China. Additionally, our team has consistently won first prize in the prestigious iDash competition.

Responsibilities
- Be responsible for the research and development of the privacy computing platform, help address data security and privacy issues in real business.
- Be in charge of the design and implementation of the SOTA privacy computing algorithm, platforms, and products.
- Follow cutting edge research and industrial progress, design innovative algorithms and protocols of privacy computing to solve industry-level application issues (like large-scale data, extremely high performance, etc), publish patents and papers in top conferences.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
- Majoring in computer science, cryptography, information security or related fields, with a master's degree or above and at least 5 years of working experience.
- Proficient in Linux operating system and network protocols, familiar with data structures and algorithms. Good programming skills in one of the following programming languages: C, C++, Python, Go, Java.
- Familiarity with Spark, Hadoop, as well as middleware like message queues, RPC, and task scheduling. Experience in design and development of large-scale distributed systems is preferred.
- Specialized in privacy computing technologies such as secure multi-party computation, federated learning, homomorphic encryption, etc. Practical experience in the development of privacy computing-related systems, platforms, and products are preferred.
- Good problem solving ability, excellent communication and team collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of LLM and its security related topics is a plus.
- PhD's degree is preferred.

【For Pay Transparency】Compensation Description (annually)

The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $194000 - $355000 annually.​

Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.​
