Job Description
Ares Management is currently seeking an Associate Vice President of Cybersecurity Engineering to join the Cybersecurity team in our New York office. The IT group consists of over 280 team members globally and is responsible for the firm’s technology landscape. The Cybersecurity team within IT oversees and manages Ares’ global information security governance, controls engineering, and operations.
The ideal candidate will be passionate about data and information security, architecting and engineering solutions to security challenges, and dealing with the latest threats. This position will require program build and thought leadership in enterprise data security, as well as hands-on experience engineering innovative solutions in the cybersecurity control space. The candidate must interact with various IT functions to properly design solutions that balance business enablement with security. This role will work closely with other members of the Cybersecurity and Information Technology teams, as well as with stakeholders across the business.
Primary functions and essential responsibilitiesArchitect and lead a data security program, with engineering and implementation support from others on the cybersecurity engineering team.
Design, build, and maintain a secure environment that optimally enables our business needs while reducing risk and ensuring compliance with industry and regulatory standards.
Investigate environment to understand business needs and technical constraints
Document data and technical security control objective, design, implementation, and maintenance
Recommend iterative improvements to environment and processes
Deliver projects on time and within budget
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in a technical subject (e.g., Computer Science or Information Technology); or equivalent professional experience
Experience Required:
10+ years of professional experience working directly with enterprise cybersecurity teams; preferred experience working with teams focused on meeting regulatory obligations in financial services sector
Professional experience designing and building a technical program, ideally in data security
Record of direct responsibility for delivering cybersecurity controls to enable business processes
Record of working collaboratively with other engineers to deliver against a strategic vision
Professional experience creating automations (e.g., PowerShell scripts) to facilitate responsibilities
Professional experience with data security platforms and tools

The anticipated base salary range for this position is listed below. Total compensation may also include a discretionary performance-based bonus. Note, the range takes into account a broad spectrum of qualifications, including, but not limited to, years of relevant work experience, education, and other relevant qualifications specific to the role.
$200,000 - $225,000
