What is the role?

 

Cybercrime Coordination, Strategy and Policy Team, Canberra invites applications from motivated and capable professionals wishing to be considered for the role of Policy and Coordination Officer. The Team provides strategic policy advice, coordination and support to AFP Cyber Command.

 

Cybercrime is an increasing, persistent and pervasive threat and causes significant harm to Australia and the Australian community. Designated as one of the AFP’s and the Australian Government’s priority crime threats, cybercrime continues to change, challenge and evolve. It is an exciting and fast-paced environment that is at the forefront of the political landscape as its actual and potential impact and affects are realised.

 

Your excellent communication skills, ability to critically analyse and synthesise information and develop well-considered strategic advice will contribute to the Command mission to make Australia a hostile environment to cybercriminals. You will also be expected to achieve outcomes in accordance with the regulatory framework, the AFP Code of Conduct and the AFP Governance Instruments. It is expected that the successful applicant will contribute positively to the team and deliver on the core responsibilities of the position as outlined below.

Band 3 team members are expected to:

 

  • Contribute to a positive, supportive and respectful team environment.
  • Develop an awareness of the cybercrime policy and operating environment, role of the AFP, the Command and organisational priorities.
  • Contribute to the preparation of all team outputs including media and ministerial responses, strategy and policy documentation including regular reporting, Senate Estimates, enterprise-wide governance requirements, media enquiries, Questions on Notice, Executive correspondence, and FOI requests.
  • Provide secretariat services to international and multi-jurisdictional fora as required, including collating and preparing meeting papers.
  • Provide administrative support that facilitates effective functioning of the Command and team including proactively maintaining team calendars, inboxes, and filing.
  • Other tasks as required by the team to achieve successful outcomes

Essential Requirements

 

  • You must be an Australian Citizen at the time of application.
  • A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
  • Contemporary knowledge and experience relevant to the role and/or a willingness to learn.
  • A commitment to contributing to a respectful, supportive and considerate team environment and embracing diversity

Desirable Requirements

 

The following skills and/or experience would be highly regarded:

 

  • An ability to work in a complex and dynamic environment.
  • Tertiary qualifications in relevant field, relevant qualification or experience and knowledge of cybercrime.
  • Demonstrated stakeholder management skills and the ability to form productive working relationships as a member of a team.
  • An ability to prioritise tasks, take initiative and work autonomously while ensuring collective knowledge.
