Job Description

Role Summary: Systems Engineering III for Cloud Platform Operations Team is an individual contributor role and the person is expected to work on incident; problem; and change request to support the Azure Cloud Platform/Security and expected to adhere to the shift pattern. Systems Engineering is a core capability for Tesco Technology and this position is critical for shaping the engineering culture as we grow. The role will be serving as a core member of an agile team that support the Azure Cloud Platform Availability and future automations in Tesco. This role is also providing operational assistance and guidance for Azure Cloud platform including monitoring; management; disaster recovery; security compliance; auditing; networking & storage.

As a Systems Engineer III for Azure Cloud Platform I will:

• Discover and implement new technologies that improve functionality; availability; security and compliance for Azure Cloud Platform.
• Collaborate with other teams across all of Tesco Technology and vendors to ensure security and compliance related project delivery.
• Drive Service Improvements with operations engineering and bring operational excellence.
• Owning all technical aspects of Azure Cloud Platform and automation drive.
• Deliver programmes with business and/or technical risks assessment.
• Able to foresee potential risks and issues; establish a process; facilitate discussion and manage escalations.
• Able to understand and drive a technical architecture to be able to foresee the impact on dependencies; delivery timelines and implementation plans for security and compliance.
• Have good knowledge of platform engineering and implementations best practices to appreciate delivery challenges.
• Understand technology concepts; grasp new ones quickly and appreciate their implications on delivery.

System Engineering Skills & responsibilities:

• Evaluate and recommend appropriate Azure Cloud Platform ITSM & ISO27001 best practices to meet business need.
• Ensure security is by design for new and existing solutions of Azure Cloud Platform
• Understand and adopt appropriately different ways of working for effective and efficient delivery.
• Leverage existing tool sets and drive adoption of new tools and techniques; to get the best value.
• Supervise response to major incidents and provide clear post-incident root cause analysis documentation.
• Define and implement high-impact changes and projects in Infrastructure that could impact your area of responsibility and take proactive measures to ensure service stability.
• Drive service improvements that are focused on customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.
• Take ownership of technology readiness to deliver relevant workplace initiatives/projects.
• Identifying exciting opportunities for adopting new technology to solve existing needs and predicting future challenges.

Qualifications

Technology Skills:
I should have hands-on experience in

• Minimum 10-12 years of technology experience in Level 3&4 support.
• Hands-on experience on Azure sentinel and Azure defender (Must Have)
• In-depth understanding of Storage; Networking and Compute
• Keeping informed of developments Azure Cloud Platform new service offerings/features.
• Good understanding of Azure Networking such as NSG/ASG/Azure firewall/NAT gateway/Firewall on native Azure services
• Experience with setting up the RBAC & Managed identities to enforce access controls and manage permissions effectively across tenancy.
• Aware of native security monitoring solution in Azure to detect and respond to security incidents.
• Ensures real-time compliance and governance using Azure policies.
• Able to write custom scripts (PowerShell; Python) for security checks & compliance.
• Able to work as individual contributor for creating and managing Azure Infra via IaC.
• Proven diagnostic; troubleshooting; and service restoration skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and customer service skills
• Metrics management; outstanding written and verbal communication skills
• Must have the ability to bridge the gap when working with the Product; Architecture; QA and Infrastructure teams.

Leadership & Potential:

• Collaborate with a wider area or teams to drive overall Cloud Technology stack.
• Collaborate with Engineering team with clear expectations and project deliveries.
• During volatile and uncertain situations able to anticipates and overcomes obstacles with a pragmatic approach to achieve goals and commitments. While exhibiting high responsiveness by reacting quickly and positively to significant and major events
