Job Description

Reporting to the Director, HIS Project Control, the Manager, Infrastructure, is an experienced leader combining excellent leadership skills with managing teams and extensive knowledge of technical infrastructure to help support the development and lead the implementation of the technical infrastructure activities for the Hospital Information System (HIS).

The Manager is part of the project leadership team and is accountable for ensuring IT infrastructure configuration and readiness in preparation for the HIS. The individual will be responsible for developing, maintaining, supporting and optimizing key functional areas, particularly network infrastructure, server infrastructure, data communications, telecommunications systems and cloud infrastructure.

Accountabilities:

  • Provide excellent leadership to a team of experienced individuals including technical subject matter experts to execute the project plan and support in operations
  • Design and implement short and long-term strategic plans to ensure infrastructure capacity meets existing and future requirements
  • Execute the approved infrastructure and technology project plan on time and within the specified project budget and resources
  • Serve as the primary technology leader for all infrastructure and technical items related to the HIS project implementation
  • Produce high-level architecture documentation and low-level system specifications
  • Maintain a strong and constant IT presence in all HIS project meetings as well as during planning and design decisions
  • Diagnose any core technology issues and gaps that may arise during planning, implementation, and operations, and provide strategies to remediate them
  • Collaborating with a range of stakeholders including business and clinical, ensuring effective engagement and communication of project milestones and decisions
  • Advising and coaching team members by providing guidance on project issues, key success factors of the project, and lessons learned
  • Work closely with the HIS leadership team to evaluate and prioritize project priorities
  • Participate in the development of IT strategies in collaboration with the Information Management and Technology Teams
  • Manage and set priorities for the design, maintenance, development, and evaluation of all infrastructure systems, including LANs, WANs, internet, intranet, security, and wireless implementations
  • Conduct feasibility studies for various upgrade projects, improvements, and other conversions.
  • Define hardware and software standards in conjunction with owners and stakeholders
  • Practice IT asset management, including maintenance of component inventory and related documentation
  • Prepare RFPs, bid proposals, contracts, scope of work reports, and other documentation for infrastructure projects and associated efforts

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in information systems, computer science or related field
  • Minimum of five years experience managing, supporting and delivering IT infrastructure design and service delivery and operational excellence
  • Experience in quality improvement and change management principles and methodologies
  • Comprehensive knowledge of infrastructure technologies including operating systems, application virtualization presentation technologies, directory services, networking, data storage and backup technologies is required
  • Technology certifications such as Microsoft, CISSP, CCSP, CCIE, RHEL is preferred
  • Experience planning and implementing large scale IT improvement projects using industry frameworks (ITIL, TOGAF, etc.)
  • Understanding and knowledge of health industry best practices
  • Project Management Professional certification is preferred
  • Familiarity with commonly used health care applications is an asset
  • Must be an enthusiastic and creative leader with the ability to inspire and motivate people and have a proven ability to develop and foster strong stakeholder relationships
  • Must be successful in a dynamic, fast-paced work environment and be results-oriented
  • Demonstrated change management and transformational leadership skills, with effective interpersonal and negotiation skills including written and verbal communication skills is required
  • Excellent leadership skills with a strong ability to coach and mentor team members through each phase of the HIS project

Additional Information

Hours: Currently days (subject to change in accordance with operational requirements)

This is a Hybrid role. Roles that function remotely, but require essential, regular onsite weekly work.

Annual Salary:
Minimum:   $113,061
Maximum:  $141,336
