Job Description

We are seeking a dynamic individual to join our team as the Risk Officer for India. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the risk function in India, overseeing risk identification, assessment, and mitigation efforts to safeguard the stability and integrity of the organisation's operations in the region. 

This role requires a seasoned professional with a deep understanding of regional market dynamics, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.

Salary range: starting from INR 33 lakhs per annum + RSUs

Your mission

As the regional risk manager you will be responsible for:

  • Be a critical member of the APAC Risk team in developing and executing a global risk management strategy tailored to the India region.

  • Ensure consistent application of risk management methodologies, policies and procedures across all India operations.

  • Conduct risk self assessments, including security risk, for the business in entities, as per risk management principles, supporting remediation and closure;

  • Work closely with product teams to value add on risk insights into product changes, new product and market launch, open issues and horizon risks relevant to the region. 

  • Monitor and analyse regional market trends, product risks, incidents, regulatory developments, and emerging risk factors to assess their impact on the organisation's risk profile and recommend appropriate risk mitigation strategies.

  • Oversee the implementation of risk management tools and systems for India, leveraging technology and data analytics to enhance risk monitoring, reporting, and decision-making processes.

  • Work collaboratively with business units and functions to design and implement effective risk mitigation strategies, controls and action plans. Monitor the effectiveness of controls and recommend enhancements as necessary. 

  • Provide timely and accurate risk reports and updates to senior management and the board of directors, highlighting key risk exposures, trends, and emerging risks in the region.

  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with regional regulators, industry peers, and other external stakeholders to stay abreast of regulatory developments, industry trends, and best practices in risk management.

Qualifications

Experience we’re looking for: 

  • 6+ years of experience in the financial industry, preferably with a focus on the India region, ideally with first line and second line experience.

  • Good understanding of risk management principles, risk systems, reporting tools, security risk including policies and frameworks

  • A security risk management background or security related certifications such as CISA, CISSP, etc.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to analyse complex issues and develop practical solutions in a dynamic and multicultural environment.

  • Strong understanding of regional market dynamics, regulatory requirements, and geopolitical factors impacting the region, with the ability to assess and quantify risks across various business lines and geographies.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with senior management, regulators, and other stakeholders in the Asia region.

  • Good understanding of systems, management information, and reporting systems. 

  • Thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and is comfortable navigating the complexities of a subsidiary operation. 

  • Demonstrates a strong ability to drive results internally with global teams, while fostering a culture of local ownership and initiative.
