About You 

As an experienced Controller, you hold a CPA designation and bring a wealth of accounting experience in professional services/consulting or the cybersecurity field. A skilled financial analyst and strong communicator, you excel at streamlining financial processes.  

Your expertise includes producing comprehensive financial reports and KPIs to enhance operational efficiency and support ambitious growth goals. You are hands-on and agile in a start-up environment but also know how to scale. You have experience building a strong team under you as the company grows.    

Job Description 

Surefire Cyber is actively seeking a dynamic Controller to join our expanding team. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), you will collaborate closely to guide financial decisions and provide comprehensive financial updates for internal stakeholders by recording, evaluating, analyzing, and reporting relevant data points. 

 Responsibilities 

  • Responsible for General Ledger, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and Payroll areas 
  • Establish (in coordination with CFO) financial and operating benchmarks, budgets, forecasts, and reporting standards on biweekly, monthly, and annual basis. 
  • Implement consistent accounting policies, practices, and procedures, adhering to national and local legal standards while remaining knowledgeable of proposed legislation. 
  • Manage the monthly close process on a timely basis and coordinate with outside service providers including banks, auditors, and tax preparers. 
  • Develop and enforce internal controls to maximize protection of company assets, policies, procedures, and workflows. Ensure compliance with accounting principles, standards, and regulations. 
  • Monitor and analyze budget variances, providing recommendations for improvement in collaboration with department heads.  
  • Mitigate financial risks through proactive measures. 
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Work closely with the CFO to align financial goals with overall company objectives. Maintain the highest level of integrity and ethical standards. 

Requirements 

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation preferred. 
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting, Finance, related field, or applicable professional experience. 
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in progressively responsible finance positions 
  • Proven experience in financial leadership roles. 
  • Experience in Big 4 firms or DFIR organizations is a significant bonus. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • Attention to detail. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
