The IT Security Intern will play a crucial role in supporting the organization’s security operations. This internship offers a unique opportunity for hands-on experience in cybersecurity, allowing the intern to work closely with Appen’s IT Security team in monitoring, protecting, and enhancing the security of the Appen’s IT infrastructure. The intern will assist in various tasks, including security monitoring, incident response, vulnerability management, and compliance enforcement. This position is ideal for a motivated individual looking to gain practical experience in the fast-paced and ever-evolving field of cybersecurity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Security Monitoring and Incident Response: Assist in monitoring security alerts and logs across various platforms and tools.
  • Vulnerability Management: Assist in vulnerability reports and collaborate with teams to ensure timely patching and mitigation of security risks.
  • Threat Intelligence: Research and Monitor industry trends and evaluating news related to cybersecurity to keep the team informed.
  • User Awareness Training: Assist in developing and delivering security awareness training to employees.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Assist in documenting security procedures and provide suggestions for improving existing security processes based on observations and industry best practices.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with IT and security teams to ensure effective communication and coordination of security activities.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Candidate must be an active student taking up bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or related field.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey technical information clearly and concisely.
  • Good understanding of basic cybersecurity concepts, including common threat vectors, threat actors and security controls.
  • Candidate must be self-driven and with attention to detail, resourceful and proactive.
  • Candidate traits should be polite, hardworking, and trainable.
