Avertium is seeking motivated CyberSecurity Interns to join our team and assist in maintaining the security and integrity of our systems and data. The ideal candidates will be passionate about cybersecurity, eager to learn, and ready to contribute to various projects under the guidance of our experienced CyberSecurity professionals. This internship will provide valuable hands-on experience in a dynamic and growing field. Specialized internships will be available in the following business units: Security Operations Analysis, Advanced Analysis, DevOps, and Engineering. Responsibilities:

  • Responsibilities may include one or more of the following areas:
  • Security Monitoring and Analysis: Assist in monitoring our network and systems for security incidents. Analyze security logs and alerts to identify potential threats and vulnerabilities.
  • DevOps Integration: Collaborate with our DevOps team to integrate security best practices into our continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) pipelines. Help automate security controls and processes.
  • Vulnerability Management: Support vulnerability assessment and management efforts. Assist in identifying, prioritizing, and remediating vulnerabilities across our infrastructure and applications.
  • Tool Development and Engineering: Contribute to the development and enhancement of security tools and scripts. Help build automation scripts for security monitoring, logging, and response.

Qualifications:

  • Recent graduate or currently pursuing a degree in CyberSecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts and protocols.
  • Familiarity with CyberSecurity principles and best practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and willingness to learn.

Bonus Skills:

  • Previous coursework in CyberSecurity, DevOps, or Engineering.
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Familiarity with security tools such as SIEM, IDS/IPS, and vulnerability scanners.
  • Understanding of security frameworks and compliance standards (e.g., NIST, PCI-DSS).

  • Duration and Schedule: 6 months*, M-F (25 hours per week), onsite in Knoxville, TN
  • An exit interview will be provided by the Human Resources Manager at the end of the internship.  The intern will have the opportunity to complete an evaluation at that time about their experience.
