These opportunities are available within MSD’s Technology, Security, and Identity Team, which is responsible for leading technology security operations, driving the execution, and fostering a culture change for cyber capabilities to be suitable for tactical and emerging needs for MSD’s organizational transformation.

 

Technology Security Engineer - Permanent

 

2 x Full time, Permanent positions

 

Location: Primarily based in National Office, Wellington or Auckland location is available for the right person

 

It is an exciting time to be at MSD and we are seeking seasoned Technology Security Engineers with a passion for safeguarding digital environments. You will be a vital part of our Technology Security and Identity Practice, driving effective security engineering across our information technologies.

What you'll be doing | He aha tāu e mahi ana

 

As a Technology Security Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring the security and integrity of our technology infrastructure. Your responsibilities will include providing operational security support, managing configurations, and collaborating with various teams to align security solutions with business needs. You will contribute to both the design and strategic direction of our security infrastructure, fostering good security engineering practices.

 

Key Responsibilities | Ngā kawenga matua

 

•    Design and implement comprehensive security systems while balancing functional and non-functional requirements.
•    Collaborate with Practice Managers and Security Architects to engineer effective security solutions.
•    Maintain up-to-date configuration documentation and ensure compliance with security standards.
•    Provide engineering support for security operations and assist in resolving security incidents.
•    Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders to understand business requirements and propose tailored security solutions.

Skills and Experiences I He pūkenga tōu

 

To be successful in this role, you will be technically competent in the following: 

 

•    Experience with cloud security, network security, endpoint security, and identity management systems. 
•    Familiarity with cloud platforms, including at least one of: AWS, Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365.
•    Ability to conduct impact analyses and make informed recommendations on design options and trade-offs.
•    Expertise in designing large or complex systems with a focus on security and risk management.
•    Skilled in planning and managing configuration items and adopting automation tools.
•    Relevant qualification or equivalent experience in a systems engineer or senior security analyst role.

•    Excellent oral and written communication skills for engaging with diverse teams and stakeholders.
•    A team player who thrives in a collaborative environment, with the ability to build effective relationships.
•    Strong analytical skills to navigate complex issues and propose innovative solutions.
