Purpose
Contributes to the overall success of the Enterprise Privacy Office globally, ensuring specific individual goals, plans and initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted comply with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.


Accountabilities

  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge;

  • Develops, updates, and implements privacy-related governance frameworks, policies, Agreements, and associated procedures, ensuring appropriate coordination with stakeholders;

  • Provides advice and counsel across the enterprise with respect to privacy-related matters;

  • Support the development of business area specific privacy procedures, guidelines and business requirements;

  • Assists and leads special projects, as required;

  • Reviews Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) of new Bank initiatives and provides advice and counsel to Businesses with respect to the privacy program and procedures;

  • Provides support and oversight of PIAs performed by Global Privacy Officers, providing challenge and quality assurance of PIAs performed;

  • Builds a high-performance environment and supports a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment; communicating vison/values/business strategy and managing succession and development planning for the team;

  • Understands how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions;

  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk;

  • Champions a high-performance environment and contributes to an inclusive work environment.

 

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; Law Degree preferred

  • Privacy certification preferred (CIPP)

  • Background in Legal, Consulting, or Compliance preferable

  • 3-5 years privacy experience preferred
