As an Information Security Specialist, you will play a crucial role in safeguarding our organization's information systems. This entry-level position offers a unique opportunity to work with a variety of security technologies and practices, providing a comprehensive foundation for a career in information security. Your role will also encompass Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) activities, including conducting audits, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and performing risk assessments. You will contribute to user training initiatives, helping to elevate security awareness across the organization. You will support user management security through general user auditing and supporting centralized identity management tools. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a keen interest in information security best practices and technologies.
Hybrid Schedule: This position can expect to work 2 days per week in the West Des Moines, IA office.

Essential Functions

  • Governance, Risk, and Compliance: Review and update Telligen Information Security Policies. Conduct regular internal and external security audits to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements. Conduct third party risk assessments of vendors and partners to ensure they meet Telligen security requirements.
  • User Administration: Complete user audits by reviewing reports and working with appropriate leadership to validate access. Partner with application teams to build and maintain integrations with Okta customer identity and access management tools.
  • DR/BCP: Perform annual Business Impact Analysis (BIA). Facilitate DR/BCP testing and creating, updating, and maintaining associated documents.
  • User Training and Awareness: Assist in the delivery of security awareness training and phish testing for employees. Provide guidance and support to users on security best practices and policies.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of security incidents, tickets, vulnerabilities, and compliance activities. Prepare reports for management detailing the status of security incidents, audit findings, and risk assessments.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with IT and other departments to ensure alignment on security initiatives. Respond to security requests that come through the Telligen ticketing system. Communicate effectively with team members, stakeholders, and management regarding security issues and policies. Be timely with response, use professional communication, and approach vulnerability and risk management from the perspective of business enablement.

Requirements

  • 2 year degree in Information Management and/or equivalent training and/or experience.
  • 1+ year of work experience in IT Security.
  • Security+, SANS/GIAC, SSCP or related certification preferred.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, with strong critical thinking ability when triaging and responding during incident response.
