Position Summary

We’re looking for a dynamic and results-driven manager to lead a team of expert, client-facing technical experts responsible for executing security testing programs for world-class organizations. HackerOne believes on-demand, preemptive security assessments, powered by global talent and powerful tools, will continue to thrive as a mission-critical component of the modern enterprise security posture. The Technical Engagement team mission is to deliver value at the highest standard of excellence, enabling customers to gain awareness and fix security issues as quickly as possible.


The Team Manager, Technical Engagements reports into the Sr. Director, Delivery Excellence within HackerOne’s Customer Success department. HackerOne Assessments, executed by the Delivery Excellence team, is the fastest growing product and business line.

What You Will Do
  • Upon starting, a team of several Technical Engagement Managers will report directly to you. You’ll spend time getting to know the team, the company department, and gain access to all of the tools you’ll need. In the following weeks, you’ll work closely with the Sr. Director, Delivery Excellence to shape strategic advancements for the Delivery Excellence department and work closely with other departments to execute on strategic improvements on the operational, go-to-market and product levels..

  • Hire and directly manage a team of Technical Engagement Managers responsible for planning and delivering multiple security testing engagements concurrently.

  • Create and instill a team culture focused on values of delivery excellence and operational scalability under a mantra of maintaining the highest ethical standards for security testing.

  • Work with customers, security experts, and other internal stakeholders to continually refine delivery methodologies for securing testing engagements involving enterprise-level complexities.

  • Hold yourself and the team accountable for quality, accuracy and value.

  • Build career development plans with clear expectations of what’s required to achieve advancement toward desired career growth.

  • Foster an environment in which each team member feels safe, accountable, empowered, motivated and confident to use good judgment to act with agency.

  • Achieve company-defined objectives and key results relevant to the department, using them as foundational decisions-making compass.

Minimum Qualifications  
  • 3-5 years experience leading technical teams in information security, software engineering or information technology.

  • Customer-facing experience with Enterprise clients. A high awareness of customer value and a career history of building trusted relationships.

  • Excellent organizational, written and verbal communication skills. Ability to achieve the most in a fast-paced, ever-evolving environment within operational constraints.

  • Strategically minded - able to balance and align the operational here-and-now with business objectives.

  • Demonstrated success in building & managing globally distributed technical teams.

  • Must be based remotely in US or Canada. HackerOne is a digital-first company. This model offers our employees flexibility in time and location. All employees must be able to work and excel in a remote environment.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with penetration testing, software development lifecycle (SDLC), and the digital security landscape.

  • Experience with high-talent marketplaces or gig-economies (e.g., Upwork, Taskrabbit).

  • Experience with any of the following tools with enterprise-level licenses and deep integrations: Gainsight, Salesforce, Slack, Monday, Freshservice.
