The Opportunity:

  • The Security Operations Officer (SOO) is responsible for leading the effective delivery of ITS security operations and security assurance, to manage information risk and security within KPMG New Zealand and KPMG Cook Islands.
  • The SOO will promote cyber security by safeguarding the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of KPMG information systems, identity, and data assets by providing proactive security expertise, creating and maintaining resilient and secure infrastructure.
  • Together with the Chief Digital Officer (NITSO) & the wider ITS leadership group, the SOO will champion secure operations and assurance to achieve compliance with agility throughout KPMG.
  • Guided by the Chief Digital Officer (NITSO), the SOO will work closely with key stakeholders to ensure information risk and security systems are aligned to the digital strategy. 

Day to day you will:

  • Manage the assignment of specific responsibilities relating to information security operations by coordinating on a regular basis with representatives from different parts of the organisation with relevant roles and job functions to achieve the objectives of informationsecurity.
  • Operate the security monitoring and alerting capability across the firm.
  • Assist with all third-party provider information security queries and security incidents as required.
  • Effectively lead the Security team to deliver on security operations and assurance.
  • Work closely with technology operations & development teams to ensure secure deployment practices are followed
  • Develop & maintain the incident response capability within the firm.
  • Provide operational leadership for cyber security investigations and incident response.
  • Assist Crisis Management & Incident Management teams during service disruption events.
  • Lead and manage a team of 8-9 people. 

What you'll bring to the team:

  • At least 3+ years relevant IT security management experience
  • Broad experience and knowledge of IT security with a particular focus on security operations, vulnerability assessments, security risk management, security assurance and compliance
  • Infrastructure management & understanding including cloud based operations (Azure).
  • A relevant tertiary qualification with CISSP and CISM qualifications (preferred).
  • Confident, proactive and ‘can do’ approach
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead and manage people to get the best outcomes.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think innovatively.
