The role

 

The Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) is a key leader responsible for the end-to-end technology security of the organisation. Building and leading a cybersecurity team, they will develop and implement robust security strategies, ensuring compliance, and fostering a security-aware culture. The CISO will collaborate with cross-functional teams, engage with stakeholders, and champion strong security standards throughout the organisation.

 

Reporting into the CIO, the role involves designing and executing the Information Security strategy, aligning with technology strategies, and managing a team of information security experts. This role oversees both the information and operational technology security strategy and works closely with the Operational Technology group in implementing their component of the corporate security roadmap. Your focus includes cyber monitoring, detection, response, and mitigation, addressing information security, IT business continuity planning, crisis management, privacy, and compliance. You will have proven experience in a similar role with in-depth knowledge of and experience in security concepts and have sound knowledge of the following industry standard frameworks - NIST, ISO27001, ASD ISM.

Who are you?

 

Armed with a Bachelor and/or Masters Degree in Information Technology or Cybersecurity, and over a decade of specialised experience in technology and cybersecurity, you'll be well-prepared to advance to your next role of Chief Information Security Officer (CISO). 

 

Along with the above, you'll have a firm understanding and experience from the ground up that includes entry level roles through to incident management and leadership.  The remaining following skills, knowledge and experience will ensure you can transition easily into this new role.

 

  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with strong track-record of engaging with Boards/executives to drive business outcomes.
  • Strong understanding of risk management principles and the ability to assess and prioritize cybersecurity risks in the context of critical infrastructure protection.
  • Demonstrated experience leading/ managing security teams and large/complex programs of work.
  • Proven experience building and managing strong relationships across business and technology teams.
  • Strong commercial acumen to engage and manage 3rd party vendors to deliver efficient and effective services to the business,
  • Expert knowledge of IT governance, cybersecurity, risk and compliance requirements in ICT, including in-depth knowledge of industry standard security frameworks e.g., NIST, ISO, ISM.
  • Technical understanding of the ICT landscape including, Information risk management, product management, program/ project management, network systems, support desk, service delivery, infrastructure, and engineering.
  • Strong ability to develop business aligned cybersecurity/IT strategies, frameworks, and roadmaps.
  • Familiarity with regulations and standards specific to the water industry, such as those related to critical infrastructure protection and water utility security.
  • Financial acumen to develop and manage a cybersecurity budget, allocating resources effectively to address priority areas.
